The Void and the Veil

"The Traveler came out of the void that surrounds all things. Thus we know that the void is full of power. Thus we enter the void without fear. Small minds will call your abilities blasphemous. They will compare you to the abominable Wizards of the Hive." -section from Voidwalker grimoire ""It's fitting, then, that we have weaponized the unknown." The universe is defined by fundamental forces. Beneath the world of light and matter lies the vacuum, and the vast dark secrets that it contains. In the understanding of this vacuum lies the secrets of Void Light." -Void grimoire The grimoires tell of how the void is not matter, but surrounds it. I've come to believe that the void is dark matter; all of creation consists of roughly 10% matter, such as us, the ground we stand on, and the air we breathe. Every atom is matter. The other 90% is dark matter, which is basically a form matter that we can't see or identify and the space that our planets and stars float in. Many would just call it nothing, but the fact that it takes space, has mass, and has energy makes me think it is SOMETHING more, just something that's not tangible to us. The Traveler was born from the void, in a way that reminds me of how everything was created (the Big Bang Theory kinda supports this), and we are able to manipulate the void as void light because of the Traveler, while the Hive also have some ability to manipulate it. The Light and Darkness can manipulate the void (I think that's how the Traveler was able to spontaneously make livable habitats on planets it visited) and teach their followers, showing that there is power in it. The fact that the Traveler came out of 'nothing'/the void and that things like Voidwalkers can make something out of nothing (nova bombs) are how I've made this connection. Now the Darkness never actually came into the material world as the Traveler did. This brings me to the Veil. Thanatonauts are warlocks who will commit suicide to get a glimpse through the veil, which many have seen glimpses of the past, future, and present through, along with other visions. The Darkness can be communicated with by the Worms and Oryx, but those clearly state that the Darkness was not material or actually in our realm, so I think it's still on the other side of the Veil, watching and using subtle manipulation. In the Legend: The Black Garden grimoire, a Thanatonaut named Pujari leaps at the Shores of Time and in death has a vision where he encounters a dark garden tgat he believes consists the Darkness. It tells him that the Light is wrong and that it's wrong that he is a dead man fighting. He received a thorn prick there and his blood was Light. He crossed over the veil, which is now dominated by the Deep since the Traveler (the Light) left, and he himself appeared as the Light, showing that the garden really did represent the Darkness while he was the Light since there was a contrast in appearance between him and the other things there. The Darkness was just trying to trick him and showed him a place that had already become the Final Shape, which is a beautiful place. But it takes a lot of killing to get to the Final Shape (if it can even fully be reached) and the Darkness basically told Pajuri "the fighting is over here, get out", which doesn't mean that he is a bad thing even though he is a thing of fighting and death. Other things came from the other side of the Veil. The Ahamkara are told to have crossed over and just decided to take the form of what we call dragons, as the Traveler decided to become a moon-sized machine. I'm gonna get a little off-topic here: "He says the Nine are vulnerable every moment they touch our world." -Brother Vance Vance is obviously referring to something Osiris said, as he does with several of his other dialogues, and he speaks of how the Nine are weak when touching our world. The Light and the Darkness don't seem to be able to kill each other on the other side of the Veil, otherwise the battle would probably be over now and the Darkness probably would've taken on material firm, too. This is also shown by how the Ahamkara took the 'dragon' forms and then we're able to be killed by us. Also, the Ahamkara are able to create and move beings like Xûr and seemingly make an endless supply of Exotics, showing that they can also manipulate the void, just like other beings from the other side of the Veil. Back to where I left off: the void and the veil seem to be the same thing to me. The Traveler came from the Void and crossed the Veil, so what if the Veil is the Void in its unused state? Void subclass Guardians simply take pieces of the Void's massive power and manipulate it into something tangible, so what if the Traveler and Ahamkara manipulated the Void by ripping a hole in it that they could pass through. So that would mean the Void is both a barrier between our realities and something that connects them at the same time. It's not tangible to us except in the few forms we can manipulate it into (nova bomb, ward of dawn, etc.), but the beings from the other side of the Veil find it all tangible and can manipulate it to far greater extents than we can. Oryx and the Worms were able to commune with the Darkness (so like the Traveler, the Darkness is also conscience). They could probably create a point that thinned the Veil to an extent where they could speak with the Darkness without it having to take material form. After Oryx talked with the Darkness he became able to Take. I believe that Taking is a process that involves Oryx transporting a being through the Veil where the Darkness manipulates them and bends their will. Now I hope I have you thinking. Why wasn't Pujari Taken then? Well, if anyone payed any attention to the game they should realize that Oryx can't Take Guardians because of their Light. Oryx has Taken many followers of the Light, but Guardians are the only ones who have actually been infused with Light and wield it as a weapon. The Darkness couldn't Take Pujari and Oryx couldn't Take us because we are the Light, and the Darkness couldn't seem to beat the Light in their reality. I'm gonna try to sum this up. So the Void and the Veil are the same and act as a barrier between two (or more) realities. The beings from the other reality can manipulate the Void with ease, so tore a hole in the barrier and entered are reality. Once they crossed over, they could manipulate the Void in our reality and showed us how to manipulate it (Guardians and Wizards for example). Oryx was able to learn how to transport things through the Veil, and that's how he Takes beings. So maybe one day the Darkness will cross the Veil and be vulnerable, just like the Traveler and the Ahamkara, or maybe one day we will learn how to cross over and defeat the Darkness. There's also possibility that the Darkness chased out the Light from the other reality, and really could kill the Light there. That would explain why the Traveler came here, and the fact that the Darkness hasn't come here could be because it doesn't want to give up the territory it's conquered on the other side, so it's conquering our side through manipulation. In either theory, the Nine are still able to push back the Darkness in our reality AND theirs. If Osiris is right and they are still in the other reality, manipulating us just like the Darkness, then that means the Darkness can't beat them in the other reality. We already know that the forces of Darkness can't penetrate the Jovian territory that the Nine control. Also, I hav a theory relating to Regicide and King's Fall. In Regicide, we clearly didn't kill Oryx, he escaped us before death. I believe he might hav Taken his Worm, but I don't think he Took himself because of the lack of appearance change, but no matter if he took something or not, he definitely escaped by crossing the Veil to where the Darkness is, then came back in King's Fall. He blatantly drew power from his sword which I think he needed to be able to cross over. Plus Oryx clearly states in the BoS that we hav to kill his Court to kill him, which we do in the Raid, not in Regicide. That's all. I'm bad with words, so if you had trouble understanding anything just ask and I'll restate it more clearly. If you have any questions about my theories or evidence, ask and I will answer. I hope you all learned something! • Cool theory. One thing tho, in game, Xur is not portrayed as selling infinite amounts of the exotics. You are the lead in the game and on an exotic weapon level, they're meant to be uniquely yours and one of a kind. Nothing in the lore supports there ever being more than one of every exotic weapon (correct me if I'm wrong)
