The UGA Story - Chapter 18 - Sacred Origins - (Part 2/3)

The group sat around the fire, still taking in Titan and Infamy's stories. Eli slowly looked around, then sat forward. "Guess it's my turn." Everyone turned to Eli. Eli gulped. Origins of Eli: "When I was little, my mother was a drug addict, and my father was in the force. He had no time to help my mother get off the drugs, and had no time for me. He was always very kind to me and my mother, but never had the time. One day on the job, his car crashed, and he was ejected from his car. He lived but he was crippled for life. He resigned from the police and focused on my mother and me. Dad helped mom get off drugs, and helped me get a good education. When I graduated grade school, my father started training me, because I would have to be the man of the family, due to the fact my father couldn't walk. He thought me how to fight, and how to shoot a gun. One late summer night, there was a knocking at the door. I was asleep and my father couldn't go down the stairs to answer the door, so my mother got up, and answered the door. Mother was instantly killed, a thug stabbed her in the neck, and cut her jugular vein. Dad called for help. I jumped up, grabbed the pistol in my closet, grabbed ammo from my cabinet, and ran downstairs. Just as the thug killed my dad, I shot him in the back. Everyone in my home was dead except me. Our neighbors heard my gun shot, and called the police. The police took me to the station and sat me down, gave me some food, asked a few questions, and then put me in a foster home. I cried every night for a whole week. But after that, I decided to become a guardian, I had nothing to lose, and it was determined to avenge my parents, and make them proud. When I graduated the academy, I was sent into the wild to fight Hive on the Dark Side of the Moon. It was extremely dangerous, but I was willing to take that risk. I went with a squad of four other guardians. 2 warlocks, 1 titan, and 1 hunter. It was extremely dark, due to the fact there was no sunlight at all. We failed our mission to flush out all the Hive onto the normal side of the moon. The titan and one warlock were both dead. Me and the remaining two returned to earth. When I got home, I felt much better, and happier. Maybe it was because I got out all the anger I compressed when I was a child. After the day I got back, I became a happy, fun guy, but always have that serious side when I need it." Everyone nodded their heads in acceptance or just kept gazing into the fire. Mr Kay looked over at Titan, and titan questioned what he was doing. Kay responded, "I'm sorry, I was just lost in thought for a second." Titan accepted the apology, and began getting tired. Everyone at the fire eventually began to fall asleep, but three guardians remained awake. These Guardians were Cheezy, Mr Kay, and Shikari. Mr Kay kept looking around, and didn't feel comfortable. "Are you alright?" Cheezy asked. Mr Kay said, "Yeah, yeah I'm alright," Mr Kay stuttered and tried to change the subject, "Why don't you tell us about yourself Cheezy?" Cheezy shook his head no. He turned to Shikari to see if he wanted to tell everyone about him, but he passed out with a bottle in his hand. Cheezy shrugged, and fell asleep. When everyone woke up, most of them didn't feel good, especially Shikari, since he passed out drunk. Titan looked around, and asked, "Anyone know where Mr Kay went?" No one said anything. Cheezy rubbed his head and turned around to see Mr Kay's helmet, with a knife trough the visor. Cheezy grabbed the helmet, and was shocked. He showed it to everyone around the pit. He pulled the knife out, and noticed that it was the traveler knife. Everyone instantly looked at Infamy. He wondered why everyone was looking at him. "What did you do?" Asked Eli. "Hey I didn't do anything, I didn't even have the knife last night. I gave it to Cheezy back on Mars, remember? And why would I kill Kay? He's one of my closest friends." Everyone turned to Cheezy. "I swear it wasn't me" everyone slowly looked around at one another. Someone was hiding something, something they don't want to share. They will have to find out who did it, and why...
