Vangaurd
Who do you think the Vangaurd is? Personally I think that it is an intelligence AI type of thing that tells you what is happening when something public comes up. What are your thoughts?

I'd say their the scouts and Intel arm of the city's defenses. Before the guardians blow it up, the Vanguard studies it and catalogs it.

Vanguards are the elite Guardians. The gamestop/amazon pre-order bonus gives you day one access to the vanguard armory; which has special colored guns, a helmet for each class, and an emblem

I personally think it is a group of explorers checking out previously populated planets.

I figure they're us. Think about it, we're scouts and special forces in the game. Just a few of us off to go scout out the galaxy and take on baddies. We're not an army, we're the advance force.

What Nitron said. It's an advance force. My personal guess is that it's going to be the beta players at first, then all of us as we explore the worlds on our own. We get to a place, see what's there and when we get back to the City, report it to the Mask or another authority figure.
