Dear Bungie, A list of issues that cripple Clan Founders & Admins

Clan administration needs addressing. Here are a list of issues that I have encountered as the Founder of Thorny Guardians, in no particular order: 1. Private Messaging Cap.
I have 8 Admins, yet I can only send a Private Message to a Max of 7 people. After that the plus (+) symbol disappears. This means that I have to leave out some of my admins from the conversation. I also want to recruit more admins on the other consoles. This is no good. Do you expect us to create a new clan or group solely for Admins of another group to be able to communicate? That's too excessive and too fiddly. Also, I am not able to add members to an existing private message group. I have to start a brand new PM just to add one person to the conversation. This is a really bad design. Solution: Please increase the max, or give Admins their own private Group Wall to communicate effectively. Also allow us (Admins) to add someone to a conversation.
2. Admin powers.
My Admins are not able to promote other members to Admin. They have to ask me, as the Founder to do it for them. Why is that? They are Admins, not moderators. Please look into this. Solution: Either give Admins the power to Promote, Kick and Ban (as it says for Founder) or change their name to Moderator instead.
3. Clan functionality on the Destiny Companion App.
Bungie.net members are not able to view and accept invitations to the Group. It is only visible on a web browser. The invite shows up blank on the Companion App.
4. Clan Tags.
There is a cap of 100 on the Sony side and on the Microsoft side. That number is too small when you have groups on this site with hundreds or even thousands of members. I have not requested that members should need my permission to apply the tag. However, my whole admin team gets PM'd when someone wants to have the tag. Users are having all sorts of errors and issues with this on their end aswell when the clan tag limit is at or around max. Solution: Please stop the automatic PMs and the need to accept a pending request. Make it automatic. Increase the Clan tag limit.
5. Gamertags and PSN ID.
Its great that I can see which members are on Xbox or Playstation. But can there be an option for users to specify exactly which console they are playing on? I have over 600 members in my Group and I am struggling to figure out who is on which console. Just take a look at these threads for example (visible to members only): Unconfirmed TG PSN List [OFFICIAL] Thorny Guardians - Xbox Gamertags [OFFICAL] Thorny Guardians - PSN Member List & Chatrooms
6. New member settings.
Things are fine when its set to open. When its set to Accepting new members with Admin Approval there are issues. All admins are PM'd and we quickly lose track of our Private message group. It was an unworkable annoyance and a total mess. One of our Admins left because of it. The third option is to close the group to new members. The issue with this is that even if you invite someone to join the group - they still can't. Because the settings are closed and the only way to override that is to make the settings open. The reason why we tried these options is because when we got to around 300 members we realised that we were having trouble keeping up to date with all of our member's gamertags. We wanted to slow down our growth until we had gotten things structured and organised. But as things are, it is near impossible. So we just opened it again since there wasn't much that we could do on our end.
7. Ideas.
Along with Admins we would like to see an option to add another layer of management. We would like to see Fireteam leaders or Officers or Moderators. Something like that. Someone who doesn't have the power to kick, ban and promote but is recognised as a leader who answers to the admins and looks after a portion of the clan on the forums and in game. Solution: You could give admins the power to add something simple like a name colour change or a symbol next to the users name who is an officer but not an admin.
This is all that I can remember and think of at the moment. Please consider these problems as I am sure that they apply to all clans, not just my own. I have posted this from my Clan forum so that they can see that I have raised this issue and hopefully they will also raise any points or ideas that I have missed. My clan is also part of an Alliance called I Mutual Gaming. That group now stands at 7000 members. The leader of that Alliance is called KryptixSKILL and all of the Admins of that group are Founders of other large clans (Leadership Alliance). I'm sure that if you speak to them they will have more to tell you about these types of issues.

  • Fyi - the issue about getting invites in your message box is fixed. There is now a configurable setting so that you can turn off getting a message sent to all admins whenever someone requests to join your group. Also, it is an intentional aspect of group security that that Founder be the only one who can make new admins or demote them. Otherwise, thanks for the feedback! It is greatly appreciated.

    • Thanks for your feedback! Keep in mind that there are some limitations in place to maintain site performance. I'll pass this along, but this does not guarantee a fulfillment of site requests, updates, or tweaks.
