You're overhyping the problem. Most people don't even wear mics so there is no way of telling if someone is a girl. Also if a girl is being bothered then she can mute or report the guy. 1. Alot of people rock mics. 2. It's a big problem in the gaming community and if you don't believe me ask a chick who player WoW. 3. You shouldn't have to mute people to begin with for saying offensive things. That's like someone calling me a -blam!- online. People shouldn't be calling me that to begin with. 4. Clearly people are liking the thread because there are 400+ comments. Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean everyone feels the same way you do.

Wow if Martin Luther King had your attitude then the south would still be segregated. You're acting that nothing can be changed which is EXTREMELY closed minded. You're "to bad it happens" attitude. People text and drive and kill people. Do you say to bad it happens or do you do something about it. Women have been harassed and -blam!- in the Military, do we just accept it because you can't stop it. What you are failing to understand is that you're wrong here. There is a big difference between a real problem, and an easy to solve problem. The way to solve it is by muting or reporting the people who do it. That's it. The examples that you listed were actually real problems because they really hurt people, but the thing that you are talking is nothing new. It's stops the harasser from bothering the person. Lastly, think about this, what I was saying this whole time is that what you are doing won't stop anyone from harassing girls,people who do that just want attention, if the girl just mutes him he won't get the attention that he wanted. Someone who would threat other people that way wouldn't have the sense to listen to you. It's logic not being an asshole.

You're ignoring it because you think that once the harasser is nutted then he just stops harassing. You're wrong there. Why would the harasser stop, he would just move on to the next girl and then the next girl. It doesn't stop unless you stop it at the source. Now this is logic. This is how you think about a problem and fix it. What you are saying doesn't fix the problem, but only addresses the problem. If you are to slow to understand that then that's you.

The harasser moves to the next girl, and is then ignored again, and etc. The harasser will stop once he gets no attention and realizes that he doesn't get anything besides a ban. I never said that you wanted attention. I'm saying that the harasser wants attention. Someone who is that pathetic won't listen to you.

I understand that someone who is like that wouldn't listen to you. I've said this over 10 times already. Anyway what I said earlier will probably stop the people who do it for attention. Yeah because you are clearly thinking of the best possible ending for a situation and rarely does that happen. You are treating this like it's no big deal so of course you are going to look at the best possible ending instead of thinking that thing s could end worse. And when the Harasser just makes a new account then what. You aren't putting any deep thought into this.

It's more effective then what you're doing. All you're doing is saying "no, bad dog". When the harasser can easily say "lol no". You act like the guy would suddenly listen to you even after girls girls he hit on obvious gave him clear signs that he is not wanted. Muting and reporting the people who do it is the most effective way to do it. How bad can it get anyway?

What you are doing is telling the harasser that the worse they can do to him is mute him. There are no consequences, there is only someone muting and blocking a person that's not going to stop. Stop with the bear minimum. Stop being so damn lazy.

You are saying that I am saying that there are no consequences when I mentioned that using the mute and report options are the most effective way to get rid of them. Muting the guy stops him from bothering you, reporting him will get him banned. If he just makes another account and doesn't change then he will be banned again if he does what he is doing. Mute does nothing and reporting takes time for any action to take place. Why are you not understanding that. You're not getting rid of anyone when you mute them. You are just pressing the big IGNORE button that you have. Muting doesn't stop the troll from trolling, just like ear plugs doesn't stop a person from talking. You just said it, they can make as many accounts as they want to. So what you are suggesting is NOT a solution at all.

So is your solution automatically converting these harassers to normal people? Not at all. No solution does. What I'm saying will stop people from being affected by it. So here is an example, someone gets a message saying "-blam!-". They ignore it. They continue getting annoying messages from the same person. So the harasser gets muted. He can send as much messages as he wants but the person who blocked him won't be affected by him. Also for the record, trolls annoy people for the sake of pissing them off. If the troll is ignored then he doesn't get what he wants.
