Looting in Destiny?

After starting a conversation on the forums about the idea of looting and steeling. I have thought up some ideas that seems very interesting if destiny is what they say it is. With what we have seen in the recent E3 gameplay for Destiny they showed us a little bit of the loot feature and how it works but it has left a lot of us questioning the mechanics of looting and has sparked the question me which is, is there going to be hidden loot in and around the regions? When looking at the loot feature it seems very simple in the sense of kill and enemy, pick up their loot and store the loot in your inventory and you are rewarded better loot when bosses are killed or even when missions are cleared. Now, this is simple but that does not answer the question whether or not there will be loot hiding on us in nooks around the maps and have hidden treasures for us. I have more thoughts on this idea and will gladly share them with the FWC but for now I would like to hear what you guys have to say about the looting feature and whether or not you think there will be hidden loot that you can get by finding instead of killing.

  • it seemed in the game play reveal that both characters received individual weapons, likely of roughly the same value / use, from the fallen mini-boss. i thought that was pretty cool. better than everyone rushing the drops in games like borderlands, leaving some people with junk. :P i imagine that there are similar mini-bosses of various difficulty and rareness wandering or hidden around many areas with similar drops. likely some straight-up chests or something of the like, too.

  • They're going to want you to explore the whole "world" they make, and since it can't be jam packed with enemies everywhere, they're going to have to provide you with some incentive to go check out abandoned buildings, etc. So with that in mind i'm sure there will be hidden loot. The artists are very proud of their work on constructing this world and it would be too much of a shame for people to ignore parts of it because theres nothing in it for them loot-wise.

    • Maybe hidden loot that is completely random in its placement. Like when an area loads there's is say a 10% chance or whatever that a chest will load in that region.

      • It's a great idea but if they do have hidden loot they would need some way of making it random chest so players can't memorize where the high level chest are and just keep re-looting them Or just have it so once you loot a chest you can't loot it for a certain amount of time

        • It would be cool if there were treasure chests that each party member could access. So, I find a chest, I open it, I get a random piece of loot based on my character class/level/etc. (However loot works normally) Certain chests have different rarity levels attached to them, if they are harder to find. But just because I find it, doesn't mean the friends I am playing with don't get a piece of loot from it. They will come and find it as well, open it and recieve their own loot. That would be a cool way to do scattered/hidden loot.

          • That would be cool. I remember hearing something about special loot and I think that you have to go somewhere to find it. I wad talking about the hunter capes by the way. Anyways, that would be cool. It would really help to convince people to explore more regions.

I think that should be in there. A lone wolf facing off against a Hive cluster meant for three fire fight teams would be a nasty surprise. So allowing the option to loot a cache of treasure as a secondary reward system might be a nice pay off if killing enemies is not an option.

            • Usually the most epic scenarios are the ones where you are in an area with danger level enemies around, and all you can really do is Sprint/sneak past them, snag some treasure in a Treasure chest, and then High-Tail it to the surface (Or just out of the area if above ground). I'm sure chests will be made. It's an easy feature to put in after the core gameplay is polished.

            • I think there will be hidden loot, not just killing things will give you cash (aka Glimmer) and, well maybe we could kill a bunch of guys and find a room FILLED with loot after a long hard fire fight, you are victorious and you walk into a dark room with small illumination of glimmer scattered across the floor, that would be so cool! :) where we would find this stuff? im not sure, probably off the beaten path and into dark caves and derelict ships, maybe in a tree shrouded jungle underneath all the vines and grass, I personally want to check out abandoned ships.
