Classified Items in December patch

About how long does it usually take to declassify new items added in the patch? I'm very anxious to be able to transfer the new guns via the api :)

  • The process is unfortunately much slower than we'd currently like it to be - if it is of any consolation, this is a pain point for us as well. It's one that we'd like to resolve, but at the moment it is in the backlog as we address higher priority issues. In an ideal world, the turnaround from classified to declassified would be on a much quicker iteration, but it's going to require a lot of backend work to make that transition closer to seamless. In the meantime, I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing and deeply empathize with how you feel - I feel the same way!

  • It's to try and cut down on spoilers, though even with the classified system, there are still several spoilerific things you could figure out or theorise about by looking at the data. I like to know as much as I can about something beforehand (especially if it involves doing a little digging), but the next Destiny player might prefer to be surprised and not know what's coming and you have to respect that. As for why Year 2 versions of Year 1 weapons are getting classified, they were probably missed because alot of the armour had been in the database before the last update. Typically this will get fixed at the start of each week, and new items get declassified a week after they get discovered. If you have an app, I would just setup a lock state that prevents you from interacting with classified items because they probably won't be going away anytime soon.

  • I'd just like to see a valid description for the item. At least a category, so we can reflect it in the right character space. What's so bad about at least telling us it's a Heavy? Classified items always break my app because of their dearth of information, and because they are eating real spots in the game I can't account for. Having the December bath be classified seems pretty weak, since most just seem to be year 1 weapons everyone already new about
