Activity Checkpoint Progression/Hash Suggestion

Was doing a Vault of Glass run last night and switched between characters at the Gorgon chest to save a checkpoint for later. Came back later and discovered that because we were jumping between hosts (to get the best connection), that checkpoint had been overridden by an Atheon checkpoint I got by accident when the host started up hard mode and discovered he was at the end. As a player, I make use of the checkpoint system quite heavily to save time doing bounties (ie just load up a checkpoint at the target I need to kill, kill them and then back out before the next checkpoint and using different difficulty levels to checkpoint multiple kill targets), but sometimes it can be a bit hard to track them especially for raids. Looking at the "/Platform/Destiny/[membershipType]/Account/[accountId]/Character/[characterId]/Activities/" endpoint, which I believe is public, it would be great if we could get some kind of progression information here perhaps in the form of something like "currentCheckpoint" of "totalCheckpoints". I'm sure the community would be more than happy to take a straight number and figure it out from there, so that we could build a checkpoint tracker for our characters. LFG websites could even use this as a validation method, when say someone says they have a checkpoint at the Templar, a quick scan of their character activity, and they can then confirm they do have it, and/or this could speed up putting up an LFG request because you would be able to autofill your checkpoint information.

  • This would also go hand in hand with adding the completion data for said checkpoints, assuming that to have the checkpoint is also to have completed the section. But if it could store not just the current checkpoint but other checkpoints held within the same week, then we could track raid section progression. While adding this it would also be good to get raid data on chests opened per character for the current week. I assume there are major structural walls stopping this data from being readily publicly available. But in time I am confident these things will eventually make it in there. I just hope they arrive before the next Destiny title launches.
