Calcified fragments

I was helping a friend trying to locate which fragments he hadn't picked up on his main character. As he runs two characters this week he doesn't know on which character has picked up which fragment. The grimoire is unlocked account wide while the fragments are per character. I find multiple fragments in his inventory via the new account/items endpoint, but they are always on characterIndex 0. Am I looking in the wrong places or is this information just not available?
