For Those New to The Unknown

It seems like it was just two weeks ago that LooseMoose went through our Clan List and removed those who were inactive to make room for new members. He opened up about 20 slots, and we're close to filling up again! With a new group of Guardians out there I thought I'd throw out a bit of info for you... First off, we are very lucky here to have a really good core group of players who like to play this game. Almost every night of the week we have a group scheduled to pay a visit to Atheon or Crota, beat them bloody and steal their lunch money. As someone new to the group what you will also probably see is that each of these fireteams has a full group of regulars and 3-5 alts to fill out the ranks. This can make getting into a group difficult at times. But what most of these established Unknowns also like to do is put new fireteams together with our newer clanmates, show them what we know, and assist them in integrating into the ranks. Here's how it works...we put a post like this out asking for anyone who is interested in raiding. We then put a raid together that includes 3-4 new folks and several of our experienced guys as sherpas. We start in VoG Regular to assist with any training you may want and to build teamwork between the group. We'll then move on to VoG HM and Crota as the team is ready. Eventually, you end up with a team of your own, folks you have found you get along with and who you enjoy getting in to raids with. We took two of our newer members out on Tuesday and have 3 more scheduled for tonight. For all you new Guardians out there...Welcome to The Unknown! Now lets get down to business, if you are interested in getting into a raid team, post here. Give us your toons levels and what you would like to do...riads, strikes, leveling your toons, we can help with all of it. For raids we ask that you be a bit flexible on the day/time for the first few runs as we need to coordinate a number of schedules to make it work. Once we get your core group together we'll assist you in setting up a day and time that works for your new raid group. So, have at it, let us know what you're wanting to do and we'll see how we can help you out.

  • I've been trying to get into a raid group for a while. Been through both at least once (and both on hard) but still learning the relics. My timeframe seems to be the snag. I'm good Friday night and most Saturday nights, but only feom 8-10 eastern on the weekdays. My 32 hunter and my 28 warlock would love to raid. psn: lazarus900

  • Hi all, new guy here. I am interested in raiding. All my toons are 31-32 (will run a Sunsinger for the rez until I know the raids well). Normally I am free after 6pm EST and anytime during the weekends. Look forward to meeting more of you.

    • Thanks for bumping this back up for viewing. Since I put this out we've had a lot of folks go through the training raids, mostly on Wednesday nights, and we'll continue that with another one tomorrow night but maybe we should shift gears a bit and see if we can organize those 10-15 "trainees" in to new fireteams. I have found that being on a set team gives you something to look forward to, knowing that there are 5 other Guardians who are just as anxious to grab mad loot...and there's nothing worse than sitting in orbit hoping a few more might join so you can get a chance to get in and wreck sh*t. I'll get a new raid team(s) post out in a few hours and see what we can put together.

    • 31 Hunter. same psn name. been kicking around here for a few months now. no alts yet as my son runs his hunter in one slot and I don't really get much game time to play but I've run enough Croata to have a full set of armor and the Hunger of Croata. I'm the guy swatting boomers while the real crew take the big guy down! keen to do more VOG and CE but it's really tough finding a time that works due to my time zone and how little I play (work, kids, fam etc). still, up for anything anytime I'm on. take the advice to fill out your friends list with DoD crew. it's made all the difference for me. this crew are the best!

      • I'm up for raiding or weeklies/nightfall. I have ran the vault once with the sherpas here on DoD and I have to say it is very educational. They can show you all of the in and outs. It takes what is normally chaos, at least in my experience, and turns it into something that is fun and enjoyable. I would be up for being part of a new raid group. I'm usually on around 9pm central. Feel free to add me. My PSN is the same as here...S0ULDIER75 the 0 is actually a zero.

        • Hey man, I appreciate the hospitality; We've messaged back and forth a bit, but this time I'm hoping to get in on some raids. I typically log on most nights between 9-10 pm EST and randomly on weekends. Wed and Thurs nights I usually stay up extra late playing in a fireteam with a good friend of mine. I got a lvl 30/31 hunter with both subs maxed and a lvl 29 sunsinger warlock (working on the voidwalker). My bud has a lvl 31 sunsinger, lvl 28 hunter & titan. I got some experience raiding Vog & Crota but rather minimal, done it a handful of times, so I'm still figuring out the details. psn is the same as above. Thanks again!

I can probably put something together on Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday at 10pm eastern for another run at the Vault. Hexxel, we have about 3-5 others who could probably use one more VoG Normal run and then we can ramp up to HM and Crota. Or, if those folks feel froggy we can make the jump right away. To do that you will want to make sure you have a good understanding of how we've run VoG up to this point, a lvl29 toon at minimum, and upgraded weapons (hopefully a few doing void damage). As mentioned above, try to have at least two of the days available as I have to juggle everyone's schedule. Let me know as soon as possible, first 3 we can match up will drop with a few sherpas.

        • Gt: hexxel Got lvl 31 warlock with both subs maxed and lvl 30 Titan with striker maxed( working on defender). I have some experience with all the raids, never beaten either on hard but have tried. Pretty much play everything. Mainly run control in pvp and run roc a lot. I am usually on around 10pm est depending on when my 2 yo goes to sleep and play till I start to fall asleep.

I am Caeldarian and I am new to the clan. Would love to find a group of guys to do raids or strikes with. To date I have just been soloing. I currently have a level 30/31 warlock depending on which subclass I am running and what gear I am using. I have maxed both sub class skill sets. Mostly play PVE because I am so bad at PVP but I am working on that as time allows in order to try and get some of my exotic bounties. Best evenings for raiding for me would be Friday or Saturday night after 9:00 PM ET. Look forward to meeting you all. psn: Caeldarian

          • Hello. I've been playing on and off since day 1, but with four kids and a full time job, it's been pretty slow going for me. I've been a member of the Unknown for a while but have only played with other Dads a couple of times. I'll also have a hard time playing at scheduled times, but will do my best. I've never done any raids and have just started doing Vanguard ROC and weekly's and such. I'm thinking about seeing if I could get a group together of Dads that like me, have never set foot in VoG to be able to experience it completely fresh the way the first fire teams did. Is this completely naive of me? It seems like it would be fun and there's nothing to lose except time (or?) I'm completely prepared to learn the hard way that it's just too difficult and that I'll need to be led through it myself as well, and I want to learn what the veteran raiders are offering up, but just think it would be fun to give it a whirl without even knowing what the Relic or what a sword bearer are ( cause I honestly don't). Thoughts? My PSN is Wilco1975, I'm in Sweden and I've got a mic. I play late nights after 20:00 gmt. I've got a wife that hates that I play and a 2 year old that wakes up sometimes at night that I need to tend to. Sold yet?

            • don't forget to check out psn ids from either the clan listing or one of the forum threads. just keep sending out friend requests with DoD in the request. The deeper the friends list the easier it gets for finding pick up groups for raids and strikes.

            • I am hopsecutioner here on the board and my psn id is abadfh120. My schedule is a bit crazy and I don't truly have a set time I am on. I am looking to perhaps do a bit of raiding when I can (probably not often) and really just looking for people to do weeklies with and perhaps just hang out and play whenever I am on. I have a 29 Warlock that I have the gear to get to 30 but trying to find the time to get the ascendant energy to upgrade.
