Hey guys,
Maybe I'm just dumb, but when I play games like this, I find my "pet weapon" and shun everything else. I'm not quick to abandon it and I find that I get more out of scrapping my other guns than I do with keeping them. In Destiny, this practice is WRONG!! and I found it out the hard way.
Harder missions don't just give the enemies more health or better weapons or higher numbers, Destiny also gives them SHIELDS! And these shields each have their own weakness (based on matching shield color to a weapon's element type). The thing is, some of these harder missions also make ammo scarce.. really really scarce. So it's in your best interest to attack a shielded enemy with a weapon that can take down its shield in as little ammo as possible (shotguns work well). When you're in a fireteam, you'll need to fill many roles as well. So having the option to switch between an Arc, Solar, and/or Void weapon when it's needed is EXTREMELY valuable. It'll help you win more consistently and much more quickly (something us Dads could definitely benefit from, right?!).
So if you're like me and have a pet weapon... STOP IT!!! You'll need to break this habit for the later strikes/raids in the game.

Good post, I only found this out earlier this week, now I hate doing strikes when others use the wrong weapons against shields and are constantly dying to minotaurs instead of 1 shotting them

I break everything down as soon as i get it, if its not purple or higher its useless to me. I have 1 of each damage type, thats all i need

Build your collection up! I have 3 Fusion Rifles, all 3 types. I have 3 Rocket Launches and Machine Guns, all 3 types. You never know when they are needed.

Edited by KravDaddyTEE: 9/25/2014 1:36:35 AMFound this on one of the various Destiny wikis. Arc > Fallen Captains and enemies with blue shields Solar > Hive Wizards and enemies with orange shields Void > Vex Minotaur and enemies with purple shields

This is why I love Icebreaker.Infinite ammo Solar sniper for those pesky wizards, shanks, and centurion.

I have 3 snipers and 3 fusion rifles with all the different elements, comes in handy

You really think that you are the first person to realize this two weeks after the game has come out?

Good advice

Nah that's what others are for.

I would go as far to say that you should keep all of your favorite weapons because you can use them in another class when you start a new one.

Buy ammo synthesis from gunsmith too, good to have a stock in supply for missions

Are there primary weapons with the ammo buffs? Just not sure if I've seen any yet.
