What is your opinion on old school and new age halo? Which do you prefer? Old school- Halo CE-3 Out there- ODST and Halo Wars New Age- Reach and 4 On a more personal note i like some of the new additions (the falcon, forge 2.0, and halo 4 AA's) but overall i think old school halo is where it's at.

  • ODST was still Old School since it was based off of Halo 3's engine and gameplay mechanics. Also, I liked Reach, but old school was the best.

  • Halo Wars shouldn't be included in this. I'm pretty sure that came out before ODST anyway. The games you labeled as 'old school' cover too much ground. CE is the only game in the series that truly rewarded skill, with minimal randomness and no handicaps to compensate for the less skilled player. If you look at all of the main title games, CE is the outlier. The disconnect between CE and any other main title game is greater than any two other main title games. People were saying back in the Reach era that it was a whole different game compared to the rest of the games, but if you look at the whole series, Halo 3 was a pretty realistic stepping stone to Reach. Overall, CE was the Halo gold standard, Halo 2 was pretty solid, Halo 3 was passable, ODST doesn't matter to me since its campaign only, everything after that is -blam!-ed.
