Two things:
1. Is it just me, or does the Titan Defender subclass seem to have very little to offer a Fireteam?
The classes seem very similar to me and the class I hoped would be able to 'tank' seems surprisingly fragile as well as lacking in potential damage-output.
Am I missing something?
2. Does anyone have any suggestions about how best to deploy the defender's Ward of Dawn?
It serves as a good place to take cover and allow your shield to regen, but is that all it is good for? Is it better to place it out-front and shoot over it, using it as cover? Stepping out the front of it to fight seems fairly counter productive and tends to get you killed in heavy fire-fights. How are other defenders using it?
Cheers

Titan Defenders are VERY situational. I mainly use my bubble to heal others, buff teammates, take points, or to give the buffs in Skirmish matches. Saint14 can help in PVE to take an offensive style; however, I suggest you stay close/in the bubble because if you die, it affects team survivability if they are using the bubble.

Played right we can be pretty useful, it's all situational, with a good few bosses I find that when I have my barrier up, I pop out, unload into the boss until almost dead, back in till health regents then rinse and repeat. Done properly is a pretty effective way of forcing the boss to focus on you for the duration of your ward. Also we have nice perks like the weapon dmg from bubble, spawning orbs when bubble takes dmg. It's all about your play style and load out.

I don't play Titan but have noticed that a lot of PVP teams use a defender to lock down flags in Control. The only thing I know that can deal with them is Nova Bomb. Otherwise you might as well go find someone else to shoot.

I don't play as a Titan but one tactic I have seen that's awesome is the boxing ring of death. Titan runs up to difficult enemy or boss and throws the shield up around him then everyone piles in and melees the crap out of it. Shield restores your health so punch away! There's an exotic helmet as well that's makes any enemy caught or entering the shield blind which is very effective.

It is tricky to be good defender. I'm trying to use my bubble only with mid or end bosses, when team needs additional damage from their weapon. Also it come handy when someone needs to be revived. But I know where you comming from. Apart from what I said we can't provide much support for the team. Blade dancer /Sunsinger can kill mutliple enemies (ideal to clear respawn od Adds). Funniest thing is that on bungie forum people are asking to nerf Titans :-/

Another way to use it is to place it out in the open to draw the bosses attention. This is so other people can attack the boss without taking damage. Mix this with the perk that creates orbs when your ward takes damage means people can get their supers up quicker.
