Check your monitor's video settings!

This might be old hat for some/most of you but it was news to me... **Wall-O-Text warning and apology ** There was some discussion yesterday whether we should set our monitors/television to TV or PC mode to get the best picture. I never really took the time to tune mine so did a little research and stumbled across a few articles about Input/Display Lag and it got me thinking. My flat screen is several years old but it has a good reponse time (6.5ms) and a 60Hz refresh rate. During high action scenes the picture appeared a bit muddy and blurred but I always attributed it to my aging eyes because the monitor has a good response time. Same is true when playing a PvP FPS. As it turns out, the TV has a bunch of automatic picture processing options to make for a better picture and they work great if there isn't a lot changing on the screen. However, when the scene is changing rapidly (head on a swivel ADS aiming) it cant keep up and not only creates a poor image in the process but introduces a delay while updating the picture. After turning everything 'Automatic' off, even the aspect ratio and light sensor, there was a DRAMATIC difference in picture clarity during intense gun fights or rapid motion. I've always wondered why people would get hits on me before I could even see them or people would blend into the background when running around or moving faster than a crawl. Mostly did PVE after making the adjustments and it was much easier to get rounds on target. Only played a few PVP rounds of Control and had a consistent KDR between 1 and 2.5 . Skirmish was hovering around 1 KDR but haven't played it as often. If you played with me before you know that my KDR is usually rather, embarrassing.... It might have been a fluke but I am hopeful this will help me obtain a respectable KDR.
