Paradox: The Dredgen Yor Journals 2

Hi, all! This is another facet of Rezyl Azzir/Dredgen Yor (gamer tag Basket34Ball) Paradox story, told from the perspective of James' rival Dredgen Yor in a series of journal entries. This only complements the series, so you won't get the full experience just reading this. This is a link to the Table of Contents: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/222610151?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=0 If you're ambitious, here's the first part to get you started: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/222438285?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=0 Hope you enjoy! __________________________________________________________________________________________ Entry 21 Why do I have to do one on today? You were there! The Vanguard got a report! There's no good reason for me to-- No, it wasn't a bad day, but-- FINE! Fine! Just shut up and let me get it over with. Okay, let's see...Today was the first Strike our new Fireteam had to complete, a mission to the Moon against some Hive. At least, it was supposed to. Our idiot third member got into a wrestling match with a Titan just as we were about to leave. If his spine wasn't already broken in three places, I would've added a few licks myself, and the mood Ana was in, she probably would've helped me. So that left me and her. Not that I'm complaining. Hey, I didn't exactly enjoy myself either, Shrimp. You heard her, going on and on about how torn up she was about her break-up with Stryker. Called it, by the way, totally called it. I'll be honest, that probably wasn't the best time to try to put the moves on her. And no, for the record, I didn't try to charm her like Andal Brask. I actually...care...about how she feels. But I had mixed feelings. On one hand, I felt sorry for her that she felt bad and felt like socking Stryker in the gut for treating her that way, so I did the right thing and listened to what she had to say. On the other hand, I felt pretty excited that I might actually have a chance, so...I tried to tell her what I thought about her and how much Stryker was an idiot for letting her go. Yeah, I don't need you to point that out. I know rot-stinking, Hive tunnels aren't the best place to make confessions of...admiration. Yes, admiration, Shrimp, shut up. Probably a good thing we found the Ogre when we did. Saved me from making a complete fool of myself. And for the most part, I think we did pretty good. Ana did good as a distraction, drawing their fire with white armor and her rocket launcher, the Truth, while I got behind them and took care of business with my First Curse. Then the Ogre - Phogoth, I think he was called - broke out of his chains and pointed his crazy laser at Ana. Don't know what made me do it exactly, but I jumped into the Ogre's gaze to keep it off her. Did it hurt? What do you think?! You and Ana revived me behind the rock, I was dead, of course it frikkin' hurt! Stupid Ghost. I'm keeping that. What did Ana say? Something spunky like she could die for herself? Women. Anyway, between the two of us it turned out all right in the end. The Ogre crumbled to dust and I had you shrink his shackles down into this boss gauntlets. Also put some of the bones on my gun. Put these bones on my gun. Yeah, I know I have weird tastes, I put up with you. What was that? Hey, Shrimp, is there someone at the door? Huh. Thought I heard someone. Did you say something? No? Ah, whatever. Anyway, Ana waited for me to get the last of my trophies, and we went to get picked up by our jumpships. If my timing was bad, Ana'a has to be just as awkward. God, I'd hoped she hadn't given me a second thought, but apparently she had been listening. I was tempted to blow it off, but then I thought: I'm wearing the bones and chains of an Ogre we just took down together, and I'm worried about what she thinks about what I've got to say to her? Ha! It couldn't be worse than being roasted by Ogre beams, could it? So I let it out, told her what a powerful, talented, yet compassionate Guardian she was. I was glad to be on her Fireteam, and said I felt bad for her that Stryker broke up with her but that she should get over him. If he didn't realize what a good thing he had, he didn't deserve her sadness. Honestly, I thought I took it too far, the way she stopped talking. But when she thanked me, it sounded pretty genuine. Maybe that's just me being hopeful, though. I don't know. Yeah, of course I offered her some bones. We killed that thing together, we ought to share the reward. Nah, I guess bones aren't her thing. What? What did you say? Oh sure, sure Shrimp. Now I see what you're doing. Making me think I'm going crazy on tape. Are we done here?
