Destiny: Legend Untold Ch 13 Pt 1

Told you guys it would be done soon :) Hello peoples, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Don't question the chapter title, all will be revealed. Hopefully this will also clear up some stuff from chapter 12 Chapter Thirteen: Pimples, the Acne-Ridden Part One "This is fantastic!" I exclaimed joyously, "Culture, history, technology, everything! All in one place!" "Cough cough NERD cough," Drew teased me, actually saying the word 'cough'. "He steals all these Hive records from the World's Grave and doesn't look at any of it, just let's his Ghost and the Tower personnel read it over for him!" I carried on, hardly noticing Drew. "And he killed the Swarm Princes and destroyed the dreaded Sword of Crota that hundreds of Guardians were killed with, but walks around like it was no big deal," John added. "Your 'twin' isn't as much of a reader as you, William," Rush acknowledged. "See, THIS is why I kept saying you should be a Warlock," Sierra shook her head, "Who else would want to know anything about the Hive aside from how to kill them?" "I'll tell you who," Drew laughed, "A NEEERRRRRRRRRR-" "Hey, learning about them is a good way to avoid getting killed and to find their weaknesses," I explained, talking over Drew as he continued to hold out the word. "To each their own," Sierra smirked, "But mine is better." "Sure, sure," I laughed, "Have you come up with any theories yet?" "Yeah, I-" Sierra began to answer me, but trailed off and looked to Drew, plugging one of her ears with a finger, "He is so lucky he doesn't have to take a break to breathe." "DREW!" I called for his attention over the single loud sound coming from his mouth, "Wrap it up!" "-RRRRRRD! By which I mean William," Drew finished with a satisfied smile. "You seemed so much smarter when I first met you at the Tower," I chuckled. "That's because I practice my lines," Drew winked. "I helped him come up with introductions," Sally put in quietly. "You should come up with some for yourself, Sally, Drew can help you practice talking to people," I suggested. "Hey, attention back to me," Sierra snapped her fingers and pointed at herself, "I'm the important one." "I'm more important," John said in response to Sierra's claim. "Shut up. Anyway William, you know how there are a few Guardians out there that can use a couple Subclasses? You're like that, except you're too stubborn to recognize Class boundaries," Sierra explained her thoughts on my recent achievement. "That seems right...can't believe I didn't think of that," I rubbed my hand up my left arm, adjusting the new Warlock bond that I had asked Ikora to give me then smoothing out my Titan mark over my hip, "So in the same way one changes mindset and focus to change between Defender and Striker, Voidwalker and Sunsinger, or Gunslinger and Bladedancer, I can change between Defender and Voidwalker." "I still have no idea why you have two Void Subclasses, though," Rush pondered, "Maybe you can change mindset but aren't capable of using your Light to create different energies?" "Whatever the case, you still don't fit that Titan armor right. You should get some Warlock gear, then at least your bond won't be hidden amongst all that bulky armor," Sierra suggested. "Fishbone," Drew gave me a joking shove. "Maybe I will change my wardrobe a bit. I always have liked those Warlock robes," I looked down at my Titan armor skeptically. Sierra snickered at that, pulling my attention back to her. "What?" I asked skeptically. "Oh nothing," she grinned, "Just imagining you in a dress." Drew doubled over with laughter at that, slapping his knees, and I couldn't help but laugh as well. Without warning, the distant zap of a Wire Rifle sounded, the molten bolt deflecting off of Drew's shoulder half a second later, causing him to bolt straight upright. Our surroundings brought back to my attention, I raised my scout rifle to seek the sniper, quickly locating it several dozen meters away on top of an old building. Before I could pull the trigger, the Vandal's head exploded off in a flurry of ether, the body dropping limply to the ground. "Too slow," Sierra chimed, pretending to blow smoke away from her sniper rifle's barrel. We were in the Cosmodrome, having nothing better to do than find a place to complete bounties and do some damage to our enemies. I always did like it here, loving the sight of nature reclaiming the once great creations of mankind despite the fact that it also showed how far we had fallen. Life had a strange way of carrying on, no matter what species rose or fell. "Maybe I should get a longer ranged weapon..." Drew mused, clearly wishing he could increase his kill count by adding sniping to his skill set. "Drew, remember what happened when you tried a sniper rifle in Crucible?" Sally reminded him warningly. "Oh yeah, that..." Drew chuckled with embarrassment. "I don't even want to know," Sierra sighed. "I do," I grinned. "Well, it's a funny story," Drew began, "Ya see, I saw Hunters and other guys using sniper rifles all the time, making it look easy. So I bought a sniper, and the-" "Transmission on all open channels," Rush interrupted. "Darn, beat me to it," John grumbled. "It's from the Speaker," Sally added, awestruck. "Just let us listen!" Sierra exclaimed. "Nothing is more important now," the Speaker's voice rang out with a tone of urgency, "We believe the Hive are engaged in a ritual that is draining the Traveler of its Light. Whatever power they wield must be understood...and destroyed." As the transmission ended and the channel went silent, we looked to each other wordlessly. • • • Our boots kicked up dust from the lunar surface as we trekked over soft grey dunes in the Sea of Storms. The Earth hung low over the horizon, stars sprinkled across the space above us. "We don't know where the Hive are performing their ritual, but we know that they'll probably be letting off some serious energy traces," John reported, "Try finding some cracks in the surface so we can scan for their residue." "I noticed a lot of cracked up portions of ground when we were around the Hellmouth," I suggested. "Were you looking for cracks when we were there?" Sierra asked incredulously, "How do you even remember that?" "It is best to remember things in case they become important later," I explained in the best sage impression I could muster. Sierra just shook her head in response, and the three of us proceeded to summon our Sparrows and rocket towards the Hellmouth. It didn't take us long after arriving to find a spot with eerie green light filtering up to the surface through a patch of split open rock. Rush and John went to work inspecting the anomaly while Drew, Sierra, and I stood watch for Hive and Fallen. Nothing approached us in the few moments it took for the Ghosts to search. "Found what we're looking for," Rush told us, "But we need to find another spot to triangulate the exact position." Our next search took just as little time, and soon our Ghosts were at work again. I let my mind drift, thinking about what the Hive could be doing that was able to weaken the Traveler. Then I felt something, like a shadowy thought at the back of my mind, and shifted my focus to feeling rather than thinking. I found my Light, a beacon in the Darkness that engulfed the Moon, and next to me I sensed the Light of Drew and Sierra multiplying our defiance. There was something nearby...a faded Light shrouded by three dancing forms of shadow that made bile rise up my throat. This was our goal, I could feel it. But there was another Light...strong and close to the concentration of Darkness... "Found it!" Rush exclaimed, drawing my attention back to reality, "We need to head towards the World's Grave." "Let's go then!" Drew cheered. "Maybe William can find some more books to nerd out over," Sierra cackled. Was any of that real? I asked myself. No longer able to feel even Sierra or Drew's Light next to mine. ________________________________________ Link to Ch 12 Pt 6: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/223245910/0/0 Link to Ch 13 Pt 2: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/225528441/0/0 Link to ToC: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212710816/0/0
