I have yet to sit down and read all of them, but I do plan to soon. Has anyone here read quite a few of them? What do you think about them? Do they reveal a lot of relevant or important story points?
I'm excited to learn more about this incredible world we're all busy having adventures in, but I just haven't hear much discussion about what the Grimoire's disclose or what interesting content they might posses. Probably because everyone's too busy raiding, and or screaming at the Cryptarch for turning their Legendary Engram into a mote of light.

I read some Grimiore

Read all the ones I've got. I'm a lore nerd and write in my spare time so I already come up with some of my own lore with mates, tying it in with that and discussing it. Really quite interesting, actually.

In short, a lot of they key ones do. The fallen are a prime example, especially their relation to the servitores and the implication what exactly taking Sepkis Prime does. The Black Garden legend? Ghost says "We've heard it", its right there. Even the engrams, how they work and the cryptarchs are somewhat explained. It is not black and white, but you can connect the dots as you unlock cards. It also mentions the Last City and its troublesome formation and gives more insight to what is in effect a post appocalyptic setting, except set after everyone calmed down and put down the sports equipement. So yeah, if you enjoy that sort of thing, there is a wealth of lore to be found. Also, it makes it worth it finding all the dead ghosts, each unlocks a short story in context of the world, sometimes from weird perspectives (like the salvage list of a Fallen Dreg)

I've read every one I've gotten. Most are just random info about items/enemies/ allies/etc, but the ghost fragments ones are really interesting to read.
-
Cryptic more than anything, really.
-
I haven't read a single one and I don't plan on reading any. I bought a video game, not access to a website. The video game I bought, unfortunately, doesn't really have a story.
-
I've actually read quite a few of them, and they're really interesting. I feel like the bulk of Destiny's story is really contained in the cards, so a lot of people are missing out.
-
They're all either backstory or descriptions of the enemies and characters. They're fascinating to read, especially the ones that come with the Dead Ghosts you find throughout the world maps.
-
I read them all. I love the unique way the story is told on cards, and cards that you only get through finding collectibles. This makes sense to me since we are trying to uncover the forgotten secrets of the Golden Age. I just wish they were in-game. The website is nice and all, but it's slow and out of the way. If they had them in the store, I'd even buy a pack of real grimoire cards. But that's the Magic the Gathering nerd coming out in me.
-
Idk, it's cool but it would be way better if it was built into the game. I love the idea of gaining these cards to figure out the world around and your characters life in the world of the future. But.... It should be built into game. I don't like having to keep opening my cell and reading what new stuff I have to learn to just pick up my controller again and move forward. Seems like a waste of motion. But on the other hand, a good way to make people get up and get moving.. So... Kinda slick when you think about it, if it's done with players health in mind.. "kind of a forced get up and take a break?" But I doubt that. Would be somehow cool if gaining these in some way gave you the ability to unlock a chance at getting exotics but, it doesn't... Just tells their stories.

I've read all the ones I have. Love the entries.
-
The gameplay should tell the story. Not some trading cards. It's pathetic
-
I have read all of the ones that I have unlock. There a great soure of lore. But they need to be in the game somewhere not just on the site
-
They're well worth the read - there's a lot of interesting detail behind the story. I actually like that it's presented separately rather than bogging down the game, when I'd rather be playing. The mobile app is perfect for the job too.
-
I just started checking them out when I actually realsied they were not just lore unlocks but actually contributed to my success in game via bonuses. So now I am looking at them all and seeing what grants bonuses so I can unlock them
-
2010 grimoire score here read everything i have, there are still a handful missing, and true some are a tad mundane like descriptions of enemy weapons, however there is some bloody fantastic writing in there, some are short stories or anecdotes from an npc's perspective and stuff like that really great stuff. totally worth the read.
-
I'm just starting to check them out.
-
i read them while im on the toliet. thanks companion app!!!
-
I do, even though the app is annoying from time to time.. But the lore and mystery is so huge Oo Shame they left such huge part of the game outside it.. But really interesting stories so looking forward to the expanssions:D Favor so far is Black Garden and The Nine!
-
I think it's really annoying that it doesn't show you which cards you've already read and which cards or parts of a card are new. Anytime I get a new grimoire card I have to look through every single one to see if there is any new content.
-
There's some great writing in the grimoire, and following stats does help you with gaining resources in certain places, something that's handy when you start leveling up legendary items. I really wish you could read them in game, but the app is nice. RSebire's idea of printing them has occurred to me a few times, and I'll probably follow suit. The ghost fragments particularly add a lot to the story, and I've turned a little obsessive into finding ghosts. So far, I've only found 12 out of the 50 or so that are hidden around the universe. I'm probably going to run a second Titan or maybe a Warlock to go find the first two that I missed in the start up of the game. Apparently some are only available during strikes or storylines? I haven't heard that confirmed, but I know that certain areas aren't open outside of certain times.
-
I'm hoping once I've unlocked them all, I can rip them out of the app, and print them off. It would be nice to have a physical copy, incase somebody asks about a place or character.
-
Not very interested in playing a collectible card game on my console... I wish there was a book, maybe later? The story, mostly its delivery, is my least favorite feature in the game anyway. Everything else is pretty awesome.
-
I find the system for reading them abit slow and awkward, so haven't read them much at the moment
-
I've read a handful. Mostly interesting, though several appear to be blank for no reason. Dunno if they haven't been finished yet, or...it just wasn't loading...or what. *shrug* Tired of logging in just to look though. Should be available in the Inbox thing on Destiny in my opinion, instead of having to get online to have a look-see.
-
I haven't read any at all. I feel like I never will either. Maybe someone whose read them all can give a summary or something....on what's worth reading, and if it explains a lot of what we don't know. I'm much more likely to read a forum post than grimoire lol
