As a 32 you should be capable...
Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.

They bought their gear off vendors to get to 31 and went straight to Crota's End and somehow managed to acquire that raid's gear. I was fortunate enough to have a group of friends and we all learned to use the relic through trial and error. It takes patience from everyone on the team. Sometimes you just have to allow for them to learn "on the job". It's simple: don't assume that because someone is level 30 or above that they have run VoG before or even that they know how to run it properly.

2 Replies1. It's much easier to get to 32 then it was to get to 30. 2. VoG is old and quaint to kinderguardians, alot of them haven't run it much. I've failed several times at Atheon with random groups for the same reason you did. Most of these new guys get vendor and raid gear to 31 or 32 and never even run normal VoG, think they can just jump into hard.

Good luck to convince them to put some effort into something, when they are used to get their loot on a silverplatter. They will just sit it out until the next cheese-train arrives.

I agree. I don't see why people are afraid of using the Relic in the first place. The Templar, Gatekeeper and Atheon are probably my favourite parts of VoG just because of being able to use the Relic. My advice to any new relic holders would just to get a group of your friends together and practice the using the Relic and to wipe near the end of Templar/Gatekeeper/Atheon to start over again and get more practice. Using it is not rocket science. It's pretty easy and pretty fun to use, too.

I only learned because my normal raid team made me learn after our primary dude got it down. If somebody doesn't have a group willing to let them learn....

Same happened to me except 3 32's and 3 31's. I'm a level 31 and one other 31 and one 32 were the only ones who knew how to use the relic. It was funny how bad we had to carry the others. In the end we gave up and went to crota hard (made it all the way to crota but couldn't kill because sword bearer kept dying)

I did VoG normal the other day to help a friend out by carrying him through at level 24. Another guy in our team who was level 30 grabbed the relic and died to the minitor on Venus. He then had a huge rage and said the 32s should always grab relic because as a level 30 he couldn't do enough damage to it.. man, i laughed so hard haha silly scrubs.

8 Replies32s don't need to able to do anything. Anyone could reach 32 before they patched the Crota cheeses. Back in the day being a 30 meant a lot. 32 today is just any casual.

You would think anyone even at 31 had been relic holder, but some have never been in the raid at all. It took me around 10 Atheon sessions to take my first relic, purely because there was always someone in there with me who had done it before. One time I decided I needed to learn, so I just grabbed it. Best way. Fact is that, in your team of 6, you can afford a max of 2 players who don't want the relic. Any more than that and you're asking for wipes. Best way is to just grab it and learn. People won't kick off at you for doing it and dying (well they shouldn't) but might be unhappy if nobody picks it up at all.

If you have a good team, the only thing relic holder needs to do is cleanse everyone. When playing with PUGs, I'll Golden Gun all the adds, by the time Relic Holder gets down Past is clear, Future is close to clear. Whip out Praetorian Foil and on to solo all the Oracles.

Once the HoW raid comes out you will have ppl who don't know how to attempt the CE raid. Experienced players leave and new players come in such is the nature of this game.

Maybe all those who commented on my comment giving me shit saying I didn't read it properly this is the 2nd paragraph he states he WAS teleported once everytime and even if you haven't been teleported open up the portal wait for someone else to get on it and run inside the portal there is still things you could of done to help

Lol yea, you have the easy ass crota raid to thank for that. What was bungie thinking giving the helmet away on normal anybody can beat crota on normal. Not that its that much more difficult on hard but its way to easy to get to lv32.
