As a 32 you should be capable...
Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.

Im pretty good with the relic and use it when no one else can but usually aviid as i have SGA and it tears oracles a new one! As for the sword again i can do it (not overly well) but when need be and no one else has i'll step up and do it cos -blam!- it why not? Haha

The problem is many see being 32 as a status symbol,when it is actually just time played and RNG luck it does not guaranty experience in all task of a raid. Then there's always people that tend to shy away from key roles in a raid because they do not like having the success of a raid rest on them.Then there's always the players who've only cheesed.Then there's the elitist problem i'm sure many would love to learn, but not many LFG.com groups have patience and understanding to people wanting to learn.But most logic answer would be maybe they're Christmas newb's.

This is why the vanguard gear idea was stupid. ONLY the people who had played and learned almost everything there was to learn in normal vog were accepted into hard. Now everyone can skip the learning phase and can qualify for hard level wise despite little knowledge of the mechanics of vog. Hopefully bungie doesn't repeat this mistake.

1 ReplyI took a group through on Friday that had never completed VoG but had completed HM Crota. Not everyone was here grinding the VoG to make 30 in the early days of destiny. Make sure you know what you are getting into by asking question before joining. Most people are pretty honest about their experience level.

Yea I hate when I'm the only one who knows how to use relic. Luckily I usually raid with my friends and one I know is good with relic, and the other I am taking under my wing

3 RepliesI always laugh at people in the gorgon maze. Which quickly turns to aggravation. Which turns into remove player from fireteam. What is so hard about follow the leader and no double jumps lol.

I hear ya, but depends who you raid with . My group has always had dedicated relic holders and I always was on oracle duty . I have done it before and had not many problems with it . Mars is easy as you only have 3 goblins to take out . Venus is where it can usually go wrong but in our group we generally run corrective measure as heavy so the non relic holders kill the praetorian before the relic holder even gets down there . And then we can smash through the oracles .

1 ReplyEdited by Apweber42: 2/8/2015 3:56:14 AMI can usually pull a couple people through until atheon and solo both portals on gatekeeper but if people can't protect the plates during that or can't get close to killing Atheon in a couple tries I generally leave and find a new team. It's super easy now. But if someone tells me they don't know what to do from the start I will of course help them and take my time with no issues.

its funny if the 32s cant do it because i remember before the dlc i was 30 and doing my job correctly. then again im always the last one to die

I personally am a 32. 9/10 raids I am the first and usually only person to volunteer for the relic on hard Templar, gatekeepers, and I take it every time I get teleported on atheon. I feel like if you are level 30+ and you can't use the relic, then don't do the hard raid because you don't belong there.

Lol i mean yeah i learn how to use the relic on hard mode lol. To the one time i had to jungle both relic to get past the gatekeepers lol. Sane with crota learn to use the sword from soloing and from hard lol

7 RepliesLevel means nothing. I just spent a good portion of my afternoon in raids. Many of the 32's were dying far more than I, and getting less kills. I was running a 31 and a 30. A couple of them didn't even seem to know how to use the relic/sword.

Gota practice with it to get the best results. But yea. There's a limit.

5 Replieslol, think about how many people are 32 because they cheesed the raid and probably couldn't even beat it on normal if they had to do it legit, level doesn't mean shit when the raid is so broken, I've seen some 32s that are just terrible at this game.

5 RepliesI'm a 31. Never done VoG. Probably should, just don't. Who cares who's capable? I also can't complete a lvl 8 Phogoth without dying. Lol!

I hate when people use as an excuse they are 30 or 31 to use the relic so i downgrade myself to 30 sometimes 29 to grab the relic. There is no excuse because the raid still the same it was so... unless you dont have experience with it there is no excuse for not using it.

3 RepliesThis has been my VoG experience over the last couple weeks as well. I'm convinced the VoG veterans have either stopped playing or they are focusing on Crota. If you are on X1 send me a request. I'm always down to get things done quick.

I'm a 32 and can handle both relic and sword. It's quite embarassing when you see 30's and 31's who don't even know how to use the items.

I find most of the people who can clear VoG knock it out real quick with teams they know or stopped doing it.

2 Repliesif a group of 30s/31s are inexperienced with holding the relic, (JUST FOR ATHEON LMFAO), then wtf are you doing staying in the team, they are a waste of your time, and digital primary bullets its not templar fight where they have to worry about staying alive aggro'ing every single enemy on the ground, its just atheon fight.......

Yes, I get so tired of it when I'm trying to kill atheon real quick and it takes an hour or when people can't even do the gatekeepers
