im having a problem with plasteel plating at the moment, I Think you could get more than 7 spirit bloom in 45 minutes in the right area, but for armour material it is pretty much at that rate, i need 50 plasteel plating per legendary, and up to 100 for exotic armour, roc strikes get me a few but in 1 hour I can get about 30.
i realise some people have 100's even 1000's of this material like my warlock has, but after making new characters ive realised how slow it is to get these materials starting from fresh

If you farm glimmer, you can buy these mats from the vanguards. 8,500-10,000 glimmer gets you 25 plating or sapphire wire after you break down the armor

yeah ive done this for the odd piece ive needed, but im not much of a farmer, it getting a bit of a drag

Farm glimmer on the exclusion zone in Mars. Get about 20k in a hour I think. Take that and go to the vanguard table and buy the helmets for 250 a piece(if it's unlocked for you). Every helmet gets 1 material, every 5-10 helmets you get a 2nd material. If you rank the helmet up by cashing in a bounty (no need to actually rank it up, just apply the xp to it), dismantle it for 2 materials. That 20k turns into 80-100 materials. 80 won't happen because you get a bonus material every 5-10 so you will get about 90 materials realistically. If you rank up a different helmet with every bounty you cash in, the materials will start to pile up.

i dont have that unlocked, I did pre order but for whatever reason didnt get the code to unlock buying the cheaper gear, a helm is about 400-450. I know this game has a grinding side to it, but im getting bored with it, doing the exclusion zone for an hour doesn't seem like fun, but I guess that what it takes.

Yea that sucks if you don't have the vanguard access. It's a lot more expensive without it and might boy be as useful since the time to get it increases so much.

I get that every so often. I put all the armor engrams in the vault and then grab them with the character in need. (3 different classes)

im down to about 3 for the titan ha.....i have about 6 with the hunter and about 1200 with the warlock....it slowing down my progress quite a bit with the titan, the hunter not so much because im only using it for pvp, and rare armour is just as good and doesnt need to be ranked up

Personally, I haven't had this problem, but I actually don't upgrade every weapon I get, I only upgrade the few I know I use. I don't know if thats helpful, but hopefully it is. ROC strikes probably offer the most engrams and low-value weapon drops... perfect for dismantling into plating. I also spent some time farming engrams from the Kill Xyor area, I'm not sure if its as rewarding now as it used to be, but perhaps offer to help some people doing the Xyor bounty and then you can pick up a bunch of engrams quickly.

the weapon material isnt so bad, because i can share and earn that between characters , ive have over 1000 weapon materials, its only the armour material like plasteel plating and saphire wire im lacking. yeah a good loot cave would be handy right now ha,

haha, I'm not aware of any "good chests".. just "bad useless one mat chests" :*(
