They should implement a system where we can pay a ridiculous amount of ascendant energy/shards to upgrade VoG gear. Like 250 materials for the upgrade would be fair imo.

Nobody does. And thats the point. It'll take grinding to get 331 VoG gear. Its a gate. Bungie loves gates. Lets be realistic..
