Because this is a shortsighted fix, what happens when HoW comes out, another bump on all items we have to rescrounge for to get the updated one and then relevel it up or a simple coin or shard that bumps any item up to current light level

I do think that every time a new expansion comes out a new difficulty should be added to each raid and you have to get the weapon again. The only other way it would make sense is if the fight that drops the weapon gives you the "shard" and only on the respective difficulty and weapon drop off that fight. That way you could choose between VoC or the Epilogue. However, I don't think you should be able to upgrade an Aethon weapon by killing Templar on the new difficulty or killing Atheon on a lower difficulty. This is make players go back to old raids and do them on new difficulties. That being said, I do not think old raid armor should be upgradeable.

True. Do you think it will be fun forever farming VoG just to farm weapons an armor over and over again? For month or even years just to keep it up.
