Destiny needs more Immersion

What is Immersion? The English dictionary states the act of being immersed as Deep mental involvement. To put it short, this is the whole reason we enjoy video games, they are a method of transporting us out of our shell of an existence, which is partly from my point of view the reason gamers desire character creation; to play as a female or a reflection of one's self (there's been plenty said on this however, so I'm not going to go in any further detail). But when you play Destiny, do you feel that sense of immersion, as if nothing around you is happening but yourself in the wild? Destiny kills immersion. But how we can we change this for the next release in the Destiny franchise? (1) Immersive Space Travel
I know I might be getting over my head when I say this, but one of the best ways to Dramatically change Destiny for the better is open space ship travel. What do we actually do with our ships right now? Well... Nothing really. Wouldn't you love to explore the system through your own personal ship? Not only this, but using your ship, for all uses, is just boring, opening up your ghost and just holding a button isn't very fun. Overall, just making space travel a more intimate experience would massively change the appeal and public opinion of Destiny.
(2) A detailed and vibrant PVE experience
Carousing the forums for suggestions on Destiny improvements, I can't help but come back to ideas of a better PVE. Specifically I'm talking about: • Weather • Animals Seriously, when you have an entire area in the cold lands of Russia, or the red dunes of Mars, why would you not take advantage of Dynamic weather events. Specific examples of similar ideas I've seen on the forums include: • Violent Blizzards in Russia and Hurricanes on Venus that hinder movement and visibility • sandstorms on Mars that could have a similar hindrance • Meteor showers on the moon • Radiation zones or a similar effect of the moon in a playable Reef area • Rain, sleet, or snow in the tower Not only would theses effect add an extra dynamic to the world, but they would increase immersion and would have the makings for improving Destiny's un-adequate patrol mode. The same can be said for animals in Destiny. It amazes me how the Fallen, who have been settled on Earth, Venus, and the moon and somehow have an infinite supply of food and water. Bungie would commonly refer the PVE side of Destiny through the middle grounds of development as "the wilds", but PVE is not feeling so wild for any consideration of the term.
(3) Less Grind, More Find!
I feel as though every game could learn something from Skyrim, and Destiny could too in the ways of exploratory findings. In destiny, the lack of exploration is all too real. There is absolutely No where to go unless your on a mission. When you go into patrol, a lot of what you do doesn't concern exploring. There are no amazing sights to see, scouting the frontier, reclaiming territory. I wouldn't really call walking the cosmodrome for hours on hours grinding exp "reclaiming the frontier". I want to explore those cracks in the moon, full of miasma, and find whats lurking down there. You know that one mission where your ghost states "There's so many passages down here, we'll never explore them all". That should never be said. Of course if Destiny didn't try to have an open world, I wouldn't try and give motivations as to how they can improve, but since Destiny's "patrol" is just so appalling and is exactly the same as it was in the Beta, I just can't find that as acceptable There needs to be some sense of exploration.
Bungie can do so much to improve destiny. We as loyal believers of what Destiny can be cannot follow the status quo. I myself want to make sure Destiny doesn't end up like call of Duty where the bare minimal is accepted. I'm not calling for a boycott or saying that Bungie or Activision are awful people, they are not, but I do believe that without improvements the franchise will remain in the mediocre state it is viewed as now.
