You ever wonder why the hell Snipers have super low impact, but have the highest damage per shot? Keep in mind, The Saterienne Rapier is purchasable from the Crucible Quartermaster (robot vendor) for 150 Crucible marks.

Oh yeah, the main reason it's better? Fatebringer is weaker on anything higher than 31 with it's 300 atk. The Saterienne Rapier is maxed to 331, allowing 100% damage to enemies up to level 33.
Just doing my Guardian duty by letting you guys know it's out there. Figured everyone had one by now...
[b]EDIT:[/b] Explosive rounds don't do extra damage, not to mention restricts you almost entirely from precision damage.
The only thing it's good for are large groups, and it's very mild AoE damage. (This is for those saying "B-b-but muh explosive rounds!!!)
[b]EDIT 2:[/b] Guys, I'm not saying 'DELETE YOUR FATEBRINGERS NOWWWW', especially if you don't have the 2 Arc primaries from HM CE. Keep if for the Nightfall. I still have mine, even. What did I expect from these forums, though?
[b]EDIT 3:[/b] Please at least use common sense when doing the HM CE and put on a 331 weapon.

[b]EDIT4:[/b] I have had the Fatebringer at 300atk since about 2 months after release. I even equipped it to the Titan I have at level 30 right now for you all to see. Enjoy continuing to tell me I don't have it. You're just Peanut Butter and Jealous I have the Ghorn and most every Exotic in the game (at some point and time).

I got an "Another NitC" from a Vanguard reputation reward package that was rolled with Outlaw and FireFly. I compared it to the vendor SatRap.. with regards to stats, they are exactly the same gun.

[b]Standard Raid Crota's End vs Level 30 Thrall with my Level 32 Warlock.[/b] Fatebringer (maxed, no explosive rounds) - 1505 precision hit damage. Saterienne Rapier (maxed) - 1019 precision hit damage. [b]Hard Raid Crota's End vs Level 33 Thrall with my level 32 Warlock[/b] Fatebringer (maxed, no explosive rounds) - 1024 precision hit damage. Saterienne Rapier (maxed) - 693 precision hit damage. The numbers are clear as day. The good thing is, you can easily test this for yourself.

Once i saw the saterienne, i had to have it. Bought it and love it! Never got the fatebringer. Don't really care if i do anyway.

Although I do want a fatebringer still. I feel like the fatebringer is easier to use on the thralls during the first part of crotas end since it's more of a close range weapon, and when you zoom in to get a headshot on the thralls that are literally right next to you when you're running through the lamps, it's kinda awkward to use the saterienne rapier since it zooms in so much more. But yeah, I'd still prefer the saterienne rapier for the rest of raid. If only it had an elemental damage.......

2 RepliesI just read one edit and determined you don't know anything. Precision shot a major without explosive rounds on, and write the number down. Then precision she the same enemy with it turned on. Still with me? Now add the precision shot damage number with the explosive damage number that pops right next to it. Surprise! Same damage.

4 RepliesYou almost make it sound like 300 attack weapons will do absolutely no damage to an enemy over 31. Saterienne Rapier is cool, but its got a 13 bullet mag IIRC, i got another nitc as the bungie gift after christmas holidays, it has firefly, luck in the chamber, hammer forged or AP rounds, 19 bullet mag, things a beast! Has exactly the same stats as Fang of Ir Yut but better range and a slight drop in stability.

I have a crypt dweller with firefly.. Love it btw. Why compare scout rifle with hand cannon. Diff rates of fire, handling, ect.

8 RepliesI too thought like you. I bought Satrienne Rapier from the Crucible vendor, thinking it would be a suitable replacement for my Fatebringer. I maxed it out and took it for a spin and you know what? It's no Fatebringer. If Satrienne Rapier had more bullets in the mag, then maybe, maybe, it would be a viable contender. It just doesn't have enough impact for only 13 rounds in the mag. Plus, Hand Cannons handle better than Scout Rifles, especially at the range most of the CE encounters take place at. Once you're back in Scout Rifle range, you should probably be using VoC anyways.

Agreed. As soon as I hit the hard raid I swap to Saterienne over the Fatebringer.... AP rounds are extremely useful too

I am working on getting the saterienne rapier myself. I have everything I need just need to keep at the crucible and get to that rank 3.......that gun will be mines

1 ReplyEven tough fatebringer has arc damage I prefer the rapier. -331 attack -good impact for a scout rifle -amazing range -looks badass -easier to get for most players (still a pretty rare templar drop/I have 3 fatebringers tho)

I have the rapier and Fatebringer still does more dmg in CE hard mode, rapier does a little over 300 precision dmg while Fatebringer does over 600, so pretty much what matters is impact rate of you didn't know
