Just curious, what are the key reasons for killing every ADD in a strike? Legendary engram drops are very unlikely (most high level players don't really need anymore leg engrams), leveling weapons that way is nearly impossible, glimmer farming is far more efficient on the exclusion zone..... I just don't see the value in killing every add. Granted, I run strikes solely to complete bounties and rarely if ever run ROC strikes. I wouldn't wipe to respawn a lagging ADD killer, I would just kill the boss extremely fast.

This is based on Roc strikes, so the experience is probably different. 1. Insane amount of engrams. I remember getting 17 within a short amount and having to go to the Tower. Cryptarch is usually an ass, but I have gotten a few sweet items from him. 2. Bounties, Armor plating for my Titan (I seem to be slacking in chest opening for her) and glimmer run all in once. I am hesitant on working on the not dying bounties unless I know everyone in my team. 3. Legendary engrams. Those seem to drop much more frequently than in any other situation. I agree that the Exclusion Zone is still the best spot for focused Glimmer farming. If you need to work on Bounties (best way to level up gear and weapons) then Roc strikes can maximize your playing experience. Besides... I can only do the Exclusion zone in small doses. I'd rather switch to another game then farm and try to keep my mind busy. I will go back to killing if they do the wipe. I always ask if I want to speed run. Just because it's a random encounter doesn't mean you shouldn't be courteous to everyone in the team. If someone asks to speedrun I forget the glimmer seed and work with them on getting through it.

Nice one Odessa ;)

HEY!!!!! *waves frantically* Sup, my friend? ...Yay! This is like ending up in some far away place and running into a friend. :D
-
Lol I knew that was you :D I just finished work so might see you guys online soon.
-
Sounds like a plan. :) I'm at work for another 1 1/2 hrs.
-
It takes about an hour to drive home and do some training so it's all good, you done all your crota runs?
-
I wish! We did all three Normal runs but my last two characters were unable to get past Crota on HM. Between the glitches, lag and occasional 'whoops!' moment... this week seems to be a wash. My Titan is forever staring into the closet, waiting for that elusive Raid chest piece to pop onto a hanger.
-
If I can Ill try get u in one with my team, our main sword guy is flawless. We're like poetry in motion lol but really it takes us half an hour to do the whole raid now on hard
-
Oh wow. I'm so jelly! Would you have room for AJ?
-
I would only invite u both if I can, I always ask the others before I invite :)
-
I understand. :)

I should edit and note that my preference applies to all strikes, ROC, Vanguard, etc. They aren't fun anymore after doing them 100x over. For bounties, there are always specific missions/strikes that are optimal for completing the bounties, I stick to those. Sadly Legendary Engrams turn into materials for me, they bring no joy, I have most weapons that are useful. Even if it turns into an exotic, 9/10 it will be sharded, I already have it. I rarely here anybody communicate during strikes, and to be honest, every time I run a strike, everybody speed runs. If somebody really wanted to kill every ADD and were upset that I wanted to speed run, I would just leave. Why fight? It's not that serious.
-
I have been extremely unlucky when it comes to weapons, so I have quite a few I'm forever hoping for. I don't mind strikes since it's something I usually do with at least my boyfriend or friend. It's a good way to coop without cutscenes and do bounties without waking the hive or listening to Omni's annoying screech. Plus... I can only do so many patrol missions. Heh. I am with you as far as the fighting, though. I usually follow the pace of everyone else, but when two people are playing the Strike through then majority should count for something. It's the biggest issue I have with matchmaking. The lack of communication makes the whole experience solo, which adds to the lack of teamwork. I have left a few strikes, usually for AFKers though. If someone's blowing past all the enemies and leaving me to deal with them then I go to orbit. All it takes is one shiny to get me behind enough to be stuck plowing through a bunch of aggro'd ADDs.
-
For me, I have pretty much never ever received a weapon I wanted from a strike. Its always raids, nightfalls, Xur, Faction Rep or Iron Banner. Everybody brings up that one time they got a legendary from a strike that turned into an exotic, that is definitely the exception, not the rule. I'd rather efficiently gain xp and glimmer (when needed). Why would you go to orbit if somebody's blasting past the enemies, why not follow them? Majority rules right :) I have eliminated patrol missions from my diet, I only perform the bounties that are quick hitters and can be stacked. All in all, if everybody has their own playstyle, the kill all ADDs person cannot complain when the efficient get it done player breezes through the strike and vice versa imo. If I cannot be upset with one that stays back and kills the adds, one cannot be upset if I fly past the ADDS and destroy the boss, completing the mission. We are all entitled to play the way we desire to play. Honestly I would prefer to have the option to solo the strikes, but for the most part, everybody I am matched with skips the random ADDs so i'm happy.
-
Majority rules is right, which is why I will usually plow through the enemies with them for the most part. When they are triple timing on a mission I want to lay back on I'd rather flip the orbit switch and look for a team that is more inclined to focus on the team, even if it's a simple question to make sure everyone's on the same page. The only time I orbit on a speeder is when they are ignoring the team completely. I've touched down with a guy on the Mars mission that jumped his speeder and flew through all enemies before I even got to the opening. Once we activated it (he skipped that) he went past everyone inside and then died on the outside to pull us forward. It wasn't even a matter of us killing everything. The person was just being a jerk. No sense in continuing with a lone wolf mentality. Again, I respect that there are different play styles. It's the simple lack of consideration involved when you go against the normal goal of a strike without any care as to whomever is around. It's not any one person's strike. So dying to pull people forward because they want everyone to follow their speed is a jerk move in my opinion. *shrugs* Luckily I've been paired with a decent group most of the time.
-
Yea, I think dying to pull people forward is inconsiderate, I don't do that. I would argue that killing adds is not the "normal goal" of a strike.... The goal is to kill the boss! The strike is not complete until the Boss is killed! Speeders are essentially fulfilling the "goal" of the strike as soon as possible! I don't get why add killers believe that killing adds is the way the strike is supposed to be played, if that were the case, there would be barriers in place, removed only after killing the adds.

Gatekeeper checkpoint in Vault of glass is actually the best farming spot in the game
-
Yup that's better by far, axiomatic beads drop more frequently then the ones in the exclusion zone. My best there was 23000 odd glimmer in roughly 2hrs
-
Oh? I don't have that one, sadly. I guess Exclusion Zone is an alternative for those who don't have it then. :)
-
Bounties where you need to kill things? Glimmer boosts? Sorry that playing this game is such a chore for you.
-
It has become a chore. Strikes were fun..... the first 10x or so. I'm more about leveling up weapons, raiding, crucible, things that provide more of a challenge. I'm at a point where i've pretty much collected everything, played every mission, strike etc. multiple times. I'll be moving on next week to another game until HOW is released. I need new content.
-
I've got a lot of legendary drops from killing everything a long the way, recently got a mida from a engram from the roc playlist

Edited by Heliocop: 1/26/2015 8:55:27 PMI always farm glimmer and always spend it on heavy synth. So every kill counts and it takes me like 1-2 minutes behind you so called soeed runner, while im makin bank.
-
lol, if i'm running a strike, its to complete a bounty. Whatever bank you made, I can make double in less time on the exclusion zone, while watching Hulu Plus. I rarely have to farm these days because I stocked up on heavy ammo synth from Xur (1coin = 5 packs). If you can spare the coins, you should stock up on the ammo form Xur, spending glimmer is a waste.

Not everyone likes to play the same way you do.
