If people do this to me I just run back to where I was to continue the strike and actually play the game as intended.

From my experience this has not happened yet. I've done this many many times and the others in the strike will continue to go through the strike following my lead

Following your lead would be them following you by choice to the end of the strike. All you did was force them to the end of the strike. They didn't follow you there.

Aren't people allowed to play the game a. let's face it, as it was intended, and b. how they want to play? Isn't what you're proposing the same as someone deliberately dancing around in front of you preventing you from shooting bad guys in the game? ie, preventing you from playing the game your way. I don't mind people racing ahead to get to the boss as quickly as possible. It's the players who aren't good enough to kill the boss on their own or the people who force other players ahead that I don't really understand.

Yes, you are entitled to play the game as you wish - as is everyone else. What you are talking about is something else again; you are forcing the way you play upon other people. If you don't like people forcing you to play the game their way, you can't expect other players to appreciate you forcing your chosen method of play onto them. The solution is actually very simple and was suggested some time ago. Bungie could make the game's strikelists accessible to players who wish to solo them. Problem solved.
