It's amazing how fans have to rationalize to themselves that Destiny has a narrative. If the Girmore Cards are supposed to be the lore of the game, it's completely disorganized and mostly useless because non of the lore is even referenced in the actual game. Also, at least some lore has to be factual and most of the cards are just speculation. If I took the lore and campaign story(plot) to my college writing professor, she would give me a failing grade. The lore of Destiny doesn't even come close to a game like Dragon Age: Inquisition. Do I need to mention the bad terrible awful writing in this game. http://youtu.be/KG1ziCvLkJ0?list=PLhyKYa0YJ_5ATCznEwJx794x4RMuYNZLN edit: can someone explain to me why the ambiguous ending of Mass Effect 3 was such an outrage yet gamers seem to think that Destiny has a story?

  • Part of the story problem with Destiny is that it is not done. Look at an early MMO (I realize this technically is not an MMO) and you get disjointed info that is not properly fleshed out. Bungie took a big leap in creating a new universe and attempting to tie together a series of events that would be viable for the long run of the game. Since they are running a long term plan the story will probably only really make sense when it is fully revealed which will not be for several years. The real killer is there lack of explanation of anything! The grimoire allows us to kind of piece together stuff as this timeline does an excellent job of doing, gj HobbitMaster12, but it would be much more interesting for players if these tidbits of information existed in game (ie cut scenes). As for Mass Effect 3, most people were upset because in the end your choices were supposed to have the big effect but ended up not really mattering. • This! But at least he's tried to explain it considerably more than bungie/activision have. What he has written actually makes up some sort of story and shows some form of order. After playing the game for what feels like an eternity and having not read the grimoire I couldn't tell you WTF is going on or why I have committed genocide multiple times on multiple planets........ Or even what the end result was??

  • I think because mass effects entire story from 1-3 was told so well so everyone was disappointed with the poor ending. And I believe destiny HAD ( when they started to develop it) a story not has a story because it clearly has NO story as the lead writer quit before they could finish. I believe this just resulted in them hashing together whatever they had in the quickest order they could find. End result = toilet Lots of people killing enemies for no real reason or understanding.
