Efrideet's Spear is Overpowered
Rolled with the proper perks, I believe this rifle is a bit game breaking and should be nerfed. Certain perks shouldn't be allowed on sniper rifles (e.g. armor piercing rounds, final round). What do you guys think? I put together a montage of how ridiculous this weapon is.
***Update: I am more so asking for opinions on the perks (final round, armor piercing rounds) and wether you consider them overpowered or not on a sniper rifle. Efrideet's Spear is simply an excellent example of these perks due to the reforging option, small clip size, and massive impact.

I have the same setup. Yes it's powerful, but it's not a game breaker. Last Word, Thorn, Vex...those are killing everybody. Not sniper rifles...let alone one in particular. Not a problem.

18 RepliesStop whining. I got 2 in IB . Gun is not OP at all. Why shouldnt a video game sniper have armor piercing rounds? Real ones do. Be aware of your srroundings and look for the telltale red dot in the distance, then counter appropriately. God the nerf hounds crying over this gun or that gun makes me sick, and Bungie listening to them has only made this game worse.

These Are good perks, but not game breaking imo. I snipe a lot and found that armor piercing/shooting through cover is often not reliable, this video is in so far not a good representation of the blindfire killquote you normally get, since you will also miss a lot. Especially in PvP you are better off with 100% stability, a large clipsize and high firerate. If any Sniper might be considered OP in this game its the Revenge, with its default Perks.

2 RepliesWent up against a team in 2v2 skirmish. Both of them were emptying their sniper mags to get the final round perk and then going ahead just 1-hitting me and my buddy. I'm not saying it's an unfair advantage (I'm also not saying it isn't lol), but the match was pretty damn boring from that moment on. My friend and I couldn't get close to them with other weapons because they would just 1-hit us whenever we showed ourselves, so we had to bring out our own sniper rifles. The game just turned into a campfest about who could fire their guns first, and then it'd be over. I can totally see this being a thing in the Iron banner with lvl advantages and all, but imagine 2 full teams in normal control running around with it. Heck all it takes is a few players and the game will get lame. Mind you, I'm not saying it should be removed or anything.

Got 2 spears, First Arc damage Final Round Spray and Play Second Solar Spray and Play Firefly Both have armor piercing. Screw anyone who wants to take my guns away lol. Efrideet's Spear has the same stats as Blackhammer btw, they're actually exact replicas of each other, but Blackhammer is more easier on the ammo.

No, I blew through 80 motes to get my IB weapons with the right perks this past time. If they didn't want it to have certain perks, they should've removed them from the possible perks available on the weapon and removed the ability to re-roll.

That's pretty crazy. I don't know about game breaking but it's pretty powerful. Kinda reminds me of the farsight from perfect dark.

When I can reroll my spear again im gunning for unflinching, armor piercing, and final rnd plus ambush scope. Watch out then.

If you want OP snipers then play BO2 FFA. You'll need therapy and a new controller. EDIT: Oh, I see what you mean by final round being op. Well, I still think BO2 snipers are more broken.
