Seems like you have only met stereotypical gamers. From my observation there are gamers from all walks of life. Football players are all overweight and not really in shape on the other hand.

Seems like you have only seen linemen. Their purpose is to be big and strong, where as faster positions like quarterback, runningback, or wide receiver would never be fat.
