★Destiny House of Wolves DLC Cut Content Confirmed - We Care Bungie★

Doing my part by sharing this around, we know they did it, and we know why. Now its time to let them know we care. EDIT: If you want to support this thread, just like it and walk away, go and enjoy the rest of your day and don't bother arguing with people on here. Thank you to everyone who liked/bumped. • Against my own better judgement, I watched all of this. If I should have learned anything, by now, it is that someone can put up a PvP montage, talk in a forcibly faked deeper voice (because it makes them super cereal, you know), and that becomes the definitive benchmark of proof. Why bother setting the bar for burden of proof any higher, when it is proven, time and time again, that this is what constitutes validity amongst this community? These are the same arguments that have been repeated before, and just because they are repeated again, they are still nothing more than an opinion based on a complete lack of understanding of how a development shop will run multiple parallel streams of development to meet aggressive timelines, and follow a "ship as ready" deployment schedule. This is not a "Bungie practice", this is not an "Activision practice", this is not a "gaming company practice", it is an established software development practice that has been around longer than a fairly large percentage of this community has been alive. The general argument is that Activision made Bungie cut content so that they could turn around and sell it back to you all. It has all that is needed to get the conspiracy theory running, because it creates an oversimplified scenario where a major corporation is out to bleed you dry. If that we their goal, however, they would be doing a piss-poor job at it. I feel like a broken record saying this, but a map is the lowest level of approachable content. It is simple geometry, that uses commodity assets, that they can (very) rapidly create using their in house tooling - which was part of the initial development phases of this game. Bungie has talked about this, in-depth, complete with videos showing how easily they could make a map. Their existence proves nothing, other than content designers created maps. That is a fraction of what goes into the completed product. But assume for a second, that a map was a "majority" of the work - which it is not. There is an abundance of "content" just laying around, waiting to be sold back to you. The implication is that form of "content" is a majority of the effort to give you something that can be packaged for sale. However, the problem with that is - if it were true - you would be getting it sold back to you on a much more frequent schedule. There is blatant stupidity in the assumption that Activision does not care, as you already bought the base game (and possibly a season pass). That is simply not how a business operates. They are more interested in selling you the franchise, which is considerably more lucrative than the fractional amount that they would get up through now. That is pretty much what the contract shows, too. Destiny will be following a set pattern of primary and secondary releases. Yes, they were able to name and plan the DLC releases. That is not some nefarious plot that proves they cut content, either. It is an artifact of project management. You simply do not plan, oblivious to a larger roadmap. Each major release, and subsequent release, are milestones, penciled in well before the work begins. Regardless of public opinion, you do not undertake a project this large without knowing where you are going years in advance, and you do not put all of your resources on the same development path - especially with a team the size of the one involved in this project. If shops were run by virtue of the popular opinion of this community, nothing would ever get released.

      • Batman is a moron, the game was not "finished" when it launched in September. There are still a myriad of bugs in the version today. They obviously did not have enough time to playtest the game, especially the raids, as is evident from the huge glitches and cheeses that existed when they were finally released. So how can you say that content was "finished".

        • Is this the same idiot who did that video claiming that Sparrow racing was clearly cut from the game?

        • I got as far as they started talking about gta. This video is such a pile of Shit that I can't believe people buy in to it. Someone that has some actual knowledge and experience needs to be the one making such a vid, not some jackass spouting the biggest nonsense from their trap. Yes, the maps were in, no the mobs and door were not. You know why? Making the maps takes a lot less time, as well as more space, than the actual setup of the raid. It is beneficial to put the maps in with the disc as it saves room on the dlc. What takes time, why it is not completed with the disc release, is coding in the enemies to spawn, attack, and move as wanted. Sure they could have put in mobs, but it would be basic mobs not actually going for an objective. It's just pathetic to think that it was all there already from the start. As for comparing it to gta and saying it would compete, not a chance. They are two completely different game types. One is a sci-fi fps with loot tables , the other is a want to be rpg third person shooter with nothing to be compared to destiny. This video is disgusting to say the least, get some experiense and knowledge before trying such a thing.

        • So Bungie "promised" us all kinds of things to do in this 10 year game, right? I'm not going to argue the fact that nobody from Bungie ever used the word promise but in these promises, did they promise that these features and content would be in the base game? So technically they could still keep their "promise".

To be honest, I'm not even going to watch the video. I appreciate that some may immediately brand me and my comments as inconsequential. However, I have watched other similar videos which all follow the same theme... I believe that nearly everyone here is right in a way, and wrong as well. I do believe there was much content removed from the game that really shouldn't have been. It was advertised long ago as being in the game, but was evidently culled for some reason - giving rise to conspiracy theories abound. However, I do not believe that this means that the areas spoken of were locked out specifically for DLC purposes. During an application's development it is not unreasonable for a developer to build in code (areas of a map in this case) that future-proofs the application. This is especially the case for something like a map area. It is crazy to think that, in light of the 10 year plan Bungie have announced, any software writer would make out a map, think "There! It's great and I have no need to include additional areas that may be needed later on". In doing this, they could very easily cause inconsistencies with the existing map if additional areas were needed, forcing a messy retcon later on. It isn't hard to create maps that have unused areas but these maps would have been played to death by testers and every single little feature would have been mulled over and over again. The Halo maps are a perfect example of this process. This doesn't mean that the content on existing maps was indeed cut out. It may have been content that as completed too late to add into the game but was added in a subsequent update. What people do have a legitimate complaint about are the areas that were completely removed prior to the release that we used to advertise the game. It is generally accepted that the game was envisioned to be MUCH larger than the released game with many more available play areas. If these were culled to enable greater amounts of DLC, then I think this was unacceptable. If indeed this was the case. It is entirely likely that the game took 5 years to develop. In fact, it was likely to be more; especially if content (entire maps, levels and crucible game types for example) was cut out. The game was created using an entirely new game engine which needed to be developed and the story behind the game (whilst thin lets face it) is likely to have had many many hours of development behind it creating the backstory (much of it being culled). The proof of the timeframe is in Halo ODST (2008?). Ultimately, at this point in the game (pun intended), there is very little for any of us to moan about. If we aren't happy, we have the choice to leave it and move on; a choice I suspect many will take for a variety of reasons - both real and imagined. However, if we stay we are by implication agreeing with the format that Bungie and Activision are following. No one at this point can complain about the content. Bungie is certainly NOT going to discuss their dirty laundry with us. As nice as it would be to know the truth, they DO NOT owe us this. Instead of wasting time moaning about it, why don't we all spend a little more time playing a game we are clearly passionate about? I understand that many may want to disagree with me, this is simply my two pennith/cents worth.

            • Well I won't say it was a waste of time to watch, but people need to understand this is all speculation and to make your own opinion of the matter.

                  • It still seems to me that this game was pushed out way too early in an attempt to get people hooked on it before HALO 5: GAURDIANS came out. Its still just a big Microsoft/343 vs. Activision/Sony/Bungie catfight.

I don't think the game seems that developed at all. In fact it feels rushed, this is why there is so little content and so many glitches.
