Dude, my subject is about f2p games in general, and that is the subject you're commenting on. Don't make this specifically about dfo when I'm talking about every other f2p game. I get you're a dfo fanboy, but they're also making profit in some form. You obviously spent things in the game that enticed you... exactly as they planned. Some games simply make their content more enticing to people so they feel better about spending their money. Some people like Destiny enough that they feel their $20 is well spent. You cant convince them otherwise because you cannot define what they value. Just as no one can convince you Destiny is worth it because you didn't find the value in it. Different strokes for different folks. Now move along.

  • You're an idiot. so I will dumb it down for you. You said, and I quote:
The only games nowadays that would consider this a non paid update are 1) F2P games that will milk you with micro-transactions. 2) Subscription games where you're already paying every month.
However, DFO offers free updates (much larger than the Destiny DLC), it does NOT operate on subscriptions, and it is a F2P game that does NOT milk it's customers. So this IS specifically about DFO BECAUSE DFO takes your claim (that I quoted) and proves it wrong. DFO

Lol you're such a moron. How much did you spend on dfo again, a few hundred? They got you exactly where they wanted you, and enticed you with their game marketing. That's milking you with market strategy and the funny thing is you're too naive to accept it. Nothing wrong with that strategy because it gave you value to the game. But the fact they drew you in to spend that much means they simply did a good job luring you. You willing to spend the money does not mean they didn't find a way to milk you. Keep living in the dark, fool. And you do understand there are various interpretations of getting milked right? Them trying to make as much money off of you is indeed milking you. The method is irrelevant. Fact is, those f2p games keep producing items with the sole intention of drawing as much revenue as possible. You may not feel like you're getting "ripped off", but they are milking you as much as they can with their strategy. Other games simply do it in other ways. Welcome to the real world.

  • No milking involved. Everything that I bought, I could have gotten from playing the game for free. That is not milking. Milking is when you start harassing your players to buy more and more, for example the Destiny DLC. They added little to no content, but then the started badgering the player base to purchase it by negatively effecting your experience otherwise. Let's not for get that DFO was not adding a tiny amount of content then badgering people into buying it. They were releasing large patches and updates, which put the Dark Below to shame, and they were doing it all for free. What I bought from them were merely cosmetic items that I could have easily earned in game, WITHOUT having to deal with months and months of RNG. What's more is, the new content didn't invalidate my old purchases. You are really grasping for straws if you think giving players tons of free content, implementing no pay walls, and selling cosmetic items that you can get in game anyway is milking. It is ironic that you would accuse me of being the fanboy here.

Clearly you have no grasp on how businesses milk people for revenue. You have just your one definition, which is not absolute. Look up general definitions of "milking" and of several interpretations, the root is to "extract" or "to gain" most often relating to financial gain. There is also the more harsh term of exploiting for financial gain, but you can't use that in this argument because Destiny isn't technically exploiting you either. Your ill feelings toward Bungie doesn't exaggerate the meaning. You bought things because you choose to, exactly as people choose to buy Destiny or any other game. If they like it, they continue to put money into it. No one forces anyone to buy any games, it's a choice and I would assume you're grown up enough to make your own decisions. Movies can milk you by making sequels, and they try to entice you to watch it, by marketing strategies, but you have a choice to watch it or not. Same concept. F2P games, as I mention over and over again, simply use a different business model to entice people to spend money. One gives you content ahead of time and draws you into buy something of value in the game. You didn't donate to them, you bought something in the game that has some value and either gives you some ingame advantage and/or aesthetic improvements. None of which you would have bought if they didn't get you hooked to their game. Their market strategy worked and you spent money. Live with it. I'm not blinded by the fact of how gaming industries make money. You being naive and uninformed is your issue, not mine. I'm very well knowledged how Bungie is trying to make money, and I'm not taking sides, I'm just presenting a perspective that fanbois tend to be blinded from. Read up on game design and try to understand the psychology around it. They literally design the games on a formula for game addiciton. Now please, educate yourself.
