And how much money has Destiny made off their sales vs this F2P? Do you not feel that the first expansion could have had a bit more content?

    1) Making $500mil in sales does not equate to 500mil in "profit". So I hope you're not using that as a raw number for comparison. We have no idea how much of that is going to which parties involved. 2) The expansion was already in the works before these figures were out, so if they already had an allotted team and timeline, then they may have done just what they needed to do, and can do, within their criteria. Those figures do not immediately affect development that is already in progress and on specific timelines. 3) I, like many others, would definitely have liked to see more content. But given that I can put in as much time into the expansion as I have for other games that I've paid more for, it is acceptable to me. 4 ) with that said, I also believe that if they don't make major improvements to future expansions, then these small updates will eventually grow stale and negatively impact the future of the game. So, we shall see.

  • Another note... (sorry for multiple posts but wanted to make sure you got a chance to see this). "Bungie might've spent the time between the release of the game and to the release of this DLC to tweak, test and improve the content but the problem is that the DLC has basically no filesize. Why? because IT'S ALREADY IN THE GAME AT LAUNCH!" -linkenski Truest thing I have seen on this topic.

  • But that wasn't entirely true. As stated in many other posts, there was a huge 2 gig download a few days, or a week, prior to the actual launch of the expansion.

  • thats fair, but those are patches covering bugs, exploits, and possible game breaking issues. All game developers do this for free as it is part of their responsibility.

Yes fixes were included in that patch but I'm talking about the 2 gig download, not the multiple smaller ones in between. There was one large download and install at some point prior to the exp. As fixing exploits and making minor updates is mostly appending code, there's no way that 2 gig file was all code just for that. There had to have been other content like new 3d models and a ton more code. It's up to you what you choose to believe, but my experience tells me they added a lot of new content at some point.
1) Making $500mil does not equate to 500mil in "profit"
'Destiny' Crosses $500 Million On Day One.... Sooo, Im going to assume you didn't notice that small detail.
2) The expansion
I apologize i didn't elaborate as I assumed that this would be obvious... actually no I'm not going to waste my time. You really don't know how a business works do you? Either way "half assed" is a HUGE understatement to describe the state of the game much less the state of the "expansion." In a nut shell, there is no excuses that can be made for this, however it is very admirable of you to stand up for Bungie even in their darkest moments. As stated elsewhere in this thread, "the game and its engine is as vast as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle." Side note: I apologize for being a douche-canoe. Nothing towards you but this game has suck a major stick up my butt. Bungie has more than let me down this time. I have been a major supporter of everything Bungie for the longest time.
3) ...it is acceptable to me.
That's fair, but this is a general statement and the state of player reviews... says it all.
4 ) with that said...
I love you, and this is the first thing I agree wholeheartedly with.

  • I should make it clear that I'm not closed mindely defending bungie. I have worked as a software developer before so I simply have a different perspective on the issues. You have every right to express your concerns. I'm merely taking a step back and let Bungie breath a little because I know software/game development has its difficulties especially with Activision breathing down their throats. So I'm providing another perspective. After all they made a gam with great gameplay and potential. They just need to expand on their content. But my tolerance will only go so far, and as stated, if they don't make major improvements down the line that would make this a much better and more unique game, then I'm moving on, and I'm sure so will others.
