This threads are awesome from seeing the MMO noobs in action, people that don't understand there is a reason to release new content, if they upgraded VoG, then what's the point of CE then, the idea is to get harder content with every DLC, not upgrade the old one, if you did then what's the point of doing new content anyway if you still go back to VoG over and over again, specially since you have ways to upgrade the VoG drops now, so unless you already got a specific piece of gear, leave VoG for the new players and keep moving forward to the new content.

  • Problem is with that, is that it's not worth it for new players either. Much like an MMO, Bungie have made old gear and weapons obsolete when it's something that could be avoided. Why are games like this stuck in a rut like this? Break the mold. Make something special and unique. Buying armor and weapons is OK, but why would any new player opt to do the VoG when it's gear and weapons can only support level 30? Ideally the VoG would now provide weapons and armor of level 31 quality, giving a still alternate method of being ready for Crota's End. I would prefer to do VoG again over just upgrading the weapons, myself. It's a good raid, and it's a shame it is now only used to try and gain essentially the Vex Mythoclast - although I still want a Praedyth's Timepiece.

  • I understand, but then what was the point of being able to upgrade Exotics? Shouldn't they have stayed the same? By your understanding the only thing that should be available to use now are everything from the new raid. Making EVERYTHING that's not from the raid obsolete. Vanguard/Crucibal gear can only get you to Lvl 31, when everyone's goal is to get to Lvl 32. And how do you get to level 32? That's right, by getting raid armor. Btw this isn't just another MMO.... This is Destiny.

  • That's the awkward thing about this game. You get a lot of FPS players who have never played an MMO or anything like one so they want things like trading and weapons from old content to be upgraded. They simply don't understand or even care that the game requires for you to keep progressing so that it can thrive down the line. The sad part is that I sometimes worry that Bungie will cave in to the casuals and ruin their game in the process.

  • Yeah, we don't mind progressing. We're not expecting it to automatically be 331, but the for the option of upgrading it. Notice how no one is asking to upgrade the armor?

  • Nobody is asking to upgrade the armor because it doesn't really do much. I think I may have used the wrong word when I said progressing. I should have said "moving on" or "evolving" simply because my view of progressing is probably different from that of the people I was talking about. The fact that you even mention not expecting it to be automatically 331 is proof of that because I consider that a given. I simply don't consider having to re-level up the gun "progressing". Semantics aside, if they were to allow this sort of upgrading then there would be less motivation to run new content. Also if a year from now, players are still using the same guns they are now, then that is horrible as players are suppose to evolve throughout a game like this. As it is, we get to keep using the same exotics if we choose to. But for it to carry over to legendary weapons is simply too much. I don't know if you've played any MMO's (which is what Destiny is trying to be in terms of the RPG elements) but old gear is often abandoned in those types of games.
