The VOG is more difficult than crota's end anyway. There's no reason the more difficult raid should give useless rewards. Also take out ascendant shards as nightfall/ other reward opportunities. They are literally useless. I suspect in the next dlc ascendant + radiant shards/energy will be as useful as my cats litter box waste.
