Its not worth doing if you have a checkpoint, but might as well get the checkpoint yourself.. I've done the deathsinger all of 4 times or so. 2 times with a regular group, once solo and once 2 manning. I just do it once then skip it on all the other characters.
Oh and funny thing Is, I beat it the first time i tried on solo... I was doing it for the shits and giggles but I ended taking down the bich

Honestly if you get the checkpoint yourself I have no problem with what you are doing. You can handle the fight and that's really what matters is that you have done it and can beat it.
