I don't think you understand Bungie's intent on continuous grinding and finding to stay relevant in this game. The only weapons that should get bumped are exotics. Keeping old legendary gear around is pointless as it would give old players nothing new to shoot for.

exactly. The reason why the old weapons become irrelivant is so that you have a reason to be doing the future raid. Otherwise you will simply continue using the same weapons, and get bored eventually and stop playing. They want you to continue to keep playing in the future.
