PETITION: VoG weapons at 331. Raids shouldn't be rendered irrelevant.

1500+ up votes 3000+ replies [You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.] Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness. I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play. Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game. Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way. Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential. ===================== Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to: AJIc3CoLd said: "But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation". JoshLags said: "The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear". DE4THINC4RN4TE said: "Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

  • We could use legendary shards, that we buy from gunsmith or get from dismantled purples. I hate that idea but that's what would most likely happen.

vog is just as challenging, if not more, its certainly on par at the very least, the rewards should reflect this. although saying that armour should remain at light level 30 for vog, making it 32 would make CE irrelevant, or possibly once you have ranked up to level 32 using CE armour, you can have the choice of upgraded old raid gear to 32, adds variety to the level 32 armour.

    • I would love a way to have the VoG weapons on the new damage numbers since I <3 my corrective measure. And if they introduced a transmog system it would give some people more reason to do older content (Im a titan and much preferred the look of VoG gear over this new gear).

    • EXACTLY!!! Bungie is only limiting themselves by limiting us. I know every company is in it to make a profit, I get that, but unfortunately, too many companies misunderstand or simply ignore/reject the correlation between customer satisfaction and profit. If a customer believes that a company/business is not taking their "satisfaction" to heart, then that person is going to leave the service(s) or product(s) of that company/business and seek that satisfaction somewhere else. Simply put, Destiny is heading toward a brick wall unless this issue is addressed. Customers, fans of Destiny are crying out for change, one that is quite reasonable, I might add, and we are hoping Bungie is listening and listening carefully. Currant fans and customers, who influence future fans, will no longer support the Destiny universe if their efforts and gear/weapons, they have come to love, become obsolete. A diversity in character personalization is a key component of this game that affects every aspect of it, therefore, limiting this limits the entire game and gaming experience and in turn, Bungie's own profits, both present and future. I hope Bungie is listening and listening carefully. I hope Bungie actually utilizes these forms as viable sources of customer/fan satisfaction, needs, wants, don't wants, likes and dislikes. Imagine how the fans/customers would react if they believed their voices were actually heard by Bungie. Bungie would then find itself in a pretty awesome position. This is a wholistic issue, not just with Destiny, but even beyond it.

There are really dozens of ways upgrading Raid Weapons could be implemented in a reasonable way: 1.Upgrading the Raid weapons could reset its progress similar to old exotics 2.Upgrading a raid weapon could require a special item that only drops on VoG hard mode, similar how crux of crota will upgrade eidolon alley 3.Upgrading a raid weapon could require a special Raid bounty, like getting 500 Ultrakills with a VoC inside the Vault of Glass, or 500 Hobgoblinkills with A fatebringer, these bounties will drop randomly like the mentor missive from the bounty-bot, and only if you already posess the wepon needed for it

here's my idea. every dlc give us one item for 1 armor and 1 weapon that brings it inline with the current weapons dmg. but only works on legendary.

      • Well as other old normal pile of crap purples are buffed to 331 when you get them now why not the raid guns? Seems stupid. I genuinely think they forgot to change them.

Just my 2 cents, but if you want to upgrade all that weapons, why not make an new item sold from Xur that costs some Motes of light (so useless at the moment) that would upgrade any weapon to its next cap. Motes of light are experience tokens actualy, so they should be used to upgrade anything it would be logical. Exemple : Vision of confluence DLC 1 : 1 orb of darkness (15 Motes of light) DLC 2 : 1 orb of winter (30 Motes of light) DLC 3 : 1 orb of Whatever (45 Motes of light) The more you want to upgrade, the more it costs, so you'll choose carefully what to upgrade (this also should be done for armor IMO, so that you look different from any other player with the same level as yours). When you dismantle one upgraded item you get the last material used (orb in my exemple).

      • The raids should level up upon every next dlc release. Saying an example: 1. Dark below comes out hardmode this week or so at lvl 33. 2. VoG should promote to lvl 32 epic and start with a 331 loot table and light 32 raid gear. The above promotes heavier flavour of different raid gears and choices of weaponary to be a true destiny legend. I do not like the idea of lvl 32 is matching the next person's identical outlook. Outdating gears will happen but we just need a new window to earn them all over again. Unlike the exotics promotion to 331 with Xur. Bungie might have already considered or am working on this now. If so, everyone would be doing raids ever so often to keep upgraded raid gears.

      • Yep, thatwill be great ! And the exoctic "upgrade path" doesn't qualify as "sensible" ! Still waiting to hear a valid as to why exotics from VoG are still 300 weapons...

      • Dude do you honestly believe anyone @Bungie cares about this community? I think the past changes made it clear that Bungievision does care only about one thing: Making more money with no content.

      • Bump, VoG armour and weapons need to be upgraded! Either there wont be any need to play VoG at all.

      • Bump You should allow each player to choose from the different styles as one person made the comment on. For instance when I was playing DCUO, we could change the style we best liked for each on of our characters so they had a unique feeling they gave us options for hands, feet, head, chest, shoulders, back, and even weapon style selection. If you do that with Destiny, we wont have 50 hunters all looking the same in the tower other than different shader colors. Next, I believe the weapon upgrades are necessary, for example I love using my vision of confluence but I find that it's not very effective on newer content, and it makes the gun obsolete. Another thing, I love my mida multi tool but cannot have it in use when i have my Ghallihorn in use so two great exotics and then I have to choose a different weapon I may not really like.
