PETITION: VoG weapons at 331. Raids shouldn't be rendered irrelevant.

1500+ up votes 3000+ replies [You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.] Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness. I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play. Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game. Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way. Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential. ===================== Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to: AJIc3CoLd said: "But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation". JoshLags said: "The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear". DE4THINC4RN4TE said: "Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

  • All I know is it would be pretty neat to do another Raid -like let's say the House of Wolves raid - with two of each class, (2 Hunters, 2 Titans, 2 Warlocks) with one of each class wearing Full VoG gear that capped at Lvl 32, and the others wearing Full Crota gear Lvl 32. That's just me though.

At this point, if Bungie wants to completely obviate any reason to play what little content they included in the base game, I'm inclined to let them continue to make bad design decisions. Why should we as players do all the work to fix their game for them. They certainly aren't paying us for it and with how thoughtless some of the recent additions have been, I think its time for them to start producing something worth supporting.

  • What They should do I make it so if you have a raid weapon or armor from the current raid it would allow you to upgrade any legendary raid or non-raid to the same Light/Attack as the weapon or armor piece you use for the upgrade. You could use a vendor to to this I think, Vanguard or Gunsmith. To keep it fair you would only be able to use a a helmet for a helmet and a hand cannon for a hand cannon. Say I want to upgrade my Fatebringer, this means I would need to get The Word of Crota (Preferably a second one) bring that and the Fatebringer to the gunsmith and basically upgrade The fatebringer with the word of Crota. Same would work with something like the devil you know. This would allow later down the line to upgrade any of the weapons to the stats of the current dlc, just by acquiring another weapons of the same type. And yes it would consume the weapon you used for the upgrade. The other option is dismantling it and acquiring an upgrade materiel say "Essence of a Handcannon" Then in the description is can say what raid it was acquired from as wel as what stats it will give the weapon you upgrade. This would also fix the issue of most level 32s looking exactly the same..

TL;DR Good idea but we need new content not beefed up existing content. VoG weapons will be useful until House of Wolves when VoG will not be worth doing anymore. It happens to all games and it needs to if they want to keep changing like how destiny wants to be a 10 year franchise project. Edit 1: After much thought here might be a healthy way to upgrade some old items to be on par with Crota's End gear only, it would not be healthy to upgrade it past the first expansion. This would also pave the way so that the gear and vendor items obtained from this new expansion could get same treatment in House of Wolves making your outdated CE gear relevant for a time being beofe "Comet" would come out. It would have to cost ridiculous or near ridiculous amounts of materials of all kinds (glimmer, radiant or ascendant mats, planet specific mats) and would also have to invest at least double the effort for it to unlock all the upgrades for it. Maybe even a visit from Xur or take it to the gunsmith for a final inspection (a wait time of maybe 24 hours) before you can get the new version back. This however would re roll the effects on weapons on which could be re rolled (i.e would not work for VoG weapon effects but would increase there damage still, but items like vendors sell namely the old Vendor stuff could be re rolled and amped up to match that of Crota's End only. Your idea has great ground work. We need more ways to obtain new gear. I think there is many better ways to this other then revamping old stuff however. Creating anything new would add content rather then keep us doing the stuff everyone is complaining about. It's not that the raids are not fun but if that's all that is offered for end game material I would prefer new content opposed opposed to this revamped content. The entire community understands that people are still upset about their weapons being obsolete. But upping the stats of rhe same content and gear is not healthy for a game that's always going to be changing and evolving. Myself and others greatly understand that it sucks those weapons will be useless come house of wolves (i can and will argue until I die that VoG weapons are very very relevant and can almost guarantee that everyone is still using them). The only time these weapons will not be useful is when there are more options of higher level enemies (i.e house of wolves probably lyrics being 32-34 for levels.) At that point we will have to many items and will have to start making choices and unfortunately the VoG will be least effective only doing 300 DMG (or max damage vs level 30 or lower enemies, for those who do not quite understand the way weapon damage works).

  • Upvoted on both platforms. This needs to happen. They're giving us little reason to even touch the VoG if they don't upgrade at least the weapons from it. Even upgrading like DE4THINC4RN4TE said would be viable imo.

I have seen this topic many times and can answer with an ok answer. When Forge Of Gods will come out VoG will be like doing Vanguard Roc except longer. If VoG weapons were updated every update what would be the point of harder raids? You would have a overpowered weapon from doing an easy long strike. This is my opinion. EDIT: If they did it so you could upgrade it would have to be like 10 exotic shards or something hard.
