PETITION: VoG weapons at 331. Raids shouldn't be rendered irrelevant.

1500+ up votes 3000+ replies [You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.] Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness. I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play. Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game. Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way. Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential. ===================== Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to: AJIc3CoLd said: "But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation". JoshLags said: "The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear". DE4THINC4RN4TE said: "Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

  • 10 yrs life span, only way to do that is to keep things fresh and that means freshening it up. VOG with updated weapons, levels of Difficulty, change up damage types. A raid training area for noobs, shield use n shit. Hell I don't know but keep the people who make this game successful want to keep returning. That is all.

To 31's and up, dailys & public events are pointless! I don't see a thread on this subject. I've mentioned on here before the CE raid weapon are replacing Vog raid guns. Move on!

  • I don't think that vendor gear should get you to Lvl 31. Maybe just to a high enough level to be able to do VOG that will get you to 30 or 31

    • Bungie's own numbers showed that raid participation is EXTREMELY low. Around 5% of players completed the VoG Hard. 15% or so on Normal. Have yet to see any numbers on CE. In short, Bungie is not going to allocate a ton of resources in this game for a small percentage of players. It's merely numbers!

    • Imo, the reason any of this is even much of an issue is the ongoing, overall lack of content. I think that if the dlc had come with more new content worth rehashing endlessly, and opened up more customization (weps, armor, etc.) options rather than just replacing the old ones, then it likely wouldn't have mattered that Vog became relatively obsolete. If they're not going to give us a wide range of new activities per dlc, then they really need to avoid devaluing earlier content. If each dlc is going to shoehorn high lvl guardians into one new little sandbox, then do as others have suggested, and open up new level challenges, with higher rated drops, on old content (while requiring newest dlc for expanded levels) so we can continue to enjoy the game as a whole, rather than just the latest appetizer. Tl;dr - increase dlc content or give vets w/newest dlc higher lvl versions of old activities

This obsoletion of VOG rewards & eventually Crota rewards goes against one of Destiny's core components that Bungie has been trying to stand firm on. Which is that they want your items to have a story & a feeling attached to them. People want items they felt they earned but did not receive or could no longer keep as such it has led things such as "loot cave" - "making raids ridiculously easy" - "wanting a bigger vault to actually keep things we like" & "wanting a in-game trade system since loot system isn't fixed" people are encouraged & to some extent forced to like something that they know will become obsolete. Not only are the early items eventually made worthless by artificial difficulty but also even the good items are eventually worthless by just a few levels of artificial difficulty, I've heard Level 32 people reporting a outstanding change in difficulty at crota then what 31's have experienced, that is a 1 level difference mind you. For example as well it is practically impossible to find the full armor sets seen worn by each of the 3 class characters in character creation. Yet if I did find a full set it must be replaced as it has nothing to keep it useful, & like I said even good gear faces the same problems everything is kinda technically useless till house of wolves the final expansion, if you think logically why would anyone waste time, resources, nostalgia, all knowing that the gear you would be attached to would become of no use to you eventually. Exotics face this problem, why choose gaunlets, boots, or chest pieces when raid helmets are the most annoying thing to drop when you can solve all the nonsense by just choosing a exotic helmet, not to mention even the helmet will have to get upgraded or rebought, or refarmed. We go on doing this because we like the game, do all this "for fun" & really want to make it better This is by far Destiny's biggest issue is that the game is fighting with itself & it must be made better, stop making the game fight itself & fix it to where it can be in haramony with itself or if the loot system & valuing of "lesser" items isn't fixed then the rightful requests of the consumer should be met by at-least installing a trading system.

Bump, and signed. It's not like this would be a hard task to implement. Either employ the same tactic that Xur has been given with Exotic weapons and Armour (pay out to have your gear maxed) ; or simply regain them in the Vault of Glass itself, all new and powered up to 331. Simple. Was this just an oversight? All other older legendary weapons and armour have the updated damage values, so why not the raid gear?

I would love an option to stick with a gun or armour and keep leveling out up. I don't mind a challenge to accomplish this, what I do mind is having to let go of a sexy gun to use another one I don't care for simply because it becomes useless with time. We have all had that one weapon or piece of armour that we thought was so cool design wise, handling wise, or perk wise and had to give it up because of the cap.

      • No they should not upgrade the old raid weapons. What they should do is get rid of vanguard gear that takes you to 31 (I think it should take you to 28 max and shouldn't cost ascendant material to upgrade). You shouldn't let people skip raids and get near max level for just doing strikes. The strike playlists should be a stepping stone into VoG, which in turn, should be a stepping stone into CE. That way you don't make the old raids irrelevant.

        • I see your point that all raid gear should be at max for the difficulty, but that's not the problem. What you seem to be complaining about is the possession of stronger weapons by less difficult accomplishments. The problem is not the raid equipment being too weak, it's the misc. weapons being to powerful. Raid weapons are meant (by Bungie as my assumption) to be relics of the raid; pieces and trophies from your triumph. The weapons, in my opinion are too easy and under leveled compared to common weapons in Destiny to even be considered anywhere near that appraisal. My point being, the weapons should be kept as they were released, but the overpowered weapons found by Vanguard and Crucible should be lowered to increase value in raid weapons. Knowing how unlikely this is to happen, it is, nonetheless, a simpler way to reach Bungie's goal that they set. In this sense, I understand your point, but it should be reworded.
