PETITION: VoG weapons at 331. Raids shouldn't be rendered irrelevant.

1500+ up votes 3000+ replies [You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.] Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness. I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play. Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game. Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way. Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential. ===================== Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to: AJIc3CoLd said: "But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation". JoshLags said: "The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear". DE4THINC4RN4TE said: "Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

  • Everything about this game has been intentionally crafted, and Bungie is not stupid... despite how stupid all of this looks. As far as I'd guess, they did this so everyone hops on the new Raid bandwagon (which as people know, is paid dlc). Eventually once that settles down and sales dip, they'll probably fix the Vault since it'd make a reason to jump back into old content while waiting for new content to surface. They'll fix it, eventually.

  • Or they could add a "very hard" VOG mode that drops the updated sheist.

    • If upgrading your current VOG Legendary weapons is not an option, how about just upgrading the current drops on VOG so all drops are 331 only for those people that have the upgrade? Its simple, If you don't have the upgrade it would drop 300, but if you do have the upgrade it would drop 331. This would keep the old raid relevant to people who have the upgrade. I had someone tell me yesterday that they don't run on VOG anymore because they don't want those old 300 weapons, but if the weapons and armor being dropped is 331, I'm sure this wouldn't be the case.

      • I feel like VoG should have radiant shards and energy as a drop, that would also make people still want to play it.

      • the reason why they won't is because for those who bought the game but not the expansions, they need a normal adventure like we had to start. If you update it for everyone, then it forces you to buy the expansion at that point. If they leave it, we have our raid and weapons, and the new players will have their raid and weapons.

      • I wish we had the option for sure. Even if they made it wildly expensive I would do it. Bungie could even make a quest to do to get materials to upgrade them, or raid bounties. Something like that.

      • Put the damn gunsmith to work. Maybe give us a reason to keep farming for ascendant materials and glimmer.

      • Weapons maybe but gear can't be due to the fact that it is the main selling point of dlc they would be shotting themselves in the foot if they made it so you can reach 32 without crotas end

        • Just make everything in the VoG give the same rating as Crota gear with the same difficulty rising as DLC come out. Seriously, this lets non dlc peeps get to the level cap, they still dont have as much weapon choice though. I also think the RNG on VoG weps worked fine, and I find that I cant equip VoG armor for the anti-oracle/praetorian perks simply because using higher lvl armor from Crotas End is more useful

          • I think the initial design was for raids to be tiered as well as story missions. So, it wouldn't necessarily have made raids irrelevant, but a series of increasingly difficult challenges. Prob is when they introduced better gear from tower venders, Joe Shmoe is now just as powerful, making vog irrelevant minus vex and fatebringer. To fix, Bungie should allow raid gear and weps to be upgradable with the guardian to any new level cap. That way raid items, i.e. end game content, are still valuable at any level.

          • I can see why they would want the new weapons in the CE raid to be higher attack lvl then the VoG raid weapons. It's so that you don't just keep using these weapons throughout the whole games life span. You know, and I know that if they did up the attack every time, people would stick with these guns and not use some of the other guns they make. But I do like your point about making all guns relevant. I hate when games make old guns non-usable. I like the borderlands system, where when the lvl cap is raised, you can go back and farm for the old guns and they will be at your new lvl. But I doubt they will do this, but I support relevance!

            • The reason they can't go up is because the there would be no reason to get the new raid weapons. Use your brain.

              • They can't people who didn't buy dlc still need content so maybe they could do an upgrade system for the raid weapons no gear though or crota would be irrelevant

                • Yup raids shouldn't be irrelevant so why again would I play hard mode CE when I already have 331 elemental primaries from VoG? Oh wait I wouldn't and you just made the new raid irrelevant.

                    • even though the thought of upgrading old 300 weapons sounds great, we are limiting ourselves for appreciating the new raid weapons. Let alone, the old raid weapons still kick ass so why buff it? i still use my raid weapons for pretty much anything (strikes, nightfall, crota) and they still prove superior to kinetic 331 primarys

                    • So you want weapons from the lower level raid to match the ones fell the higher level? The lower level raid is a lower level for a reason. That's how these games work. You have a system where areas and events in which each one the enemy is stronger than the last. Taking a reward from a lower one and making it of the same value of the harder one makes the system obsolete. Then you have a RPGS with out a key RPGS system. The only way around this is to up the difficulty of the "Vault of Glass" to the same as "Crotas End". Then you have no more system. The new content you waited for is no longer something to strive for. The way these games are made is for players to get the highest level then that is the "end game". Then they keep playing on that character or make a new one and start over, or wait for the next content drop and get that new stuff and get to the end game again. When that new content drops that's the key for you to either say by to your once great gear and scrap it once you get better stuff, or, keep the old stuff for shits and giggles and use it when ever you feel like. Dont ask for your old gear to get better. That why it's your old gear. You may like it yes, but who's to say you won't like the new gear much more after you try it out for a bit. How are you suppose to move on to better things if you're stuck on one the old stuff wishing it was better? Everything can't last forever.

                      • I think it's a good case but not all the way to crota gear vanguard gear should be 30 vog raid gear should be 31. Same with weapons 332 for raid 323 for vog raid weapons And vanguard a happy medium. a vanity slot would also solve the armor issues.
