PETITION: VoG weapons at 331. Raids shouldn't be rendered irrelevant.

1500+ up votes 3000+ replies [You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.] Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness. I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play. Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game. Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way. Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential. ===================== Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to: AJIc3CoLd said: "But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation". JoshLags said: "The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear". DE4THINC4RN4TE said: "Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

  • I would like a system which doesn't render vog hard obsolete but requires you to do crota, so dismantling a piece of raid gear gives a shard ie chest fragment, of relevent tier level, that you can then take to a vendor and apply it to your lower raid piece of same slot and increase its effectiveness to the same tier,

I really don't see why not. The only reason they wouldn't want to that I can think of is because they don't want non dlc buyers to have that damage boost. Stupid reason but I guess I can understand why.

Raids should only be relevant leading up to the next raid. People shouldn't be using FB and VoC when destiny 2-3 launches. People will have to learn to just let it go.

      • I'd say the same with the armor: a chance to upgrade it via Xur or some other method would be great. Right now, for a max level character, you have the choice of Crota's End gear, plus one Exotic. That's it. Not exactly a plethora of options for what's nominally an RPG. Bungie makes some really odd decisions.

        • If you guys really want 331 weapons, then it should not be on VoG unless the difficulty is raised. It wouldn't be fair for the people who destroyed atheon and got the 300 guns and then the next day you can magically get the 331 guns on the same difficulty . If you want the new stuff then the difficulty should be raised and the guns should be earned. Half the people on here obviously haven't played wow. 90% of the raids are pretty much useless

        • Very much yes. A very simple idea, add a higher tiered raid difficulty scaled to current maxed light level, in that difficulty have the raid drop Vex weapon/armor shards for VoG for example. Each shard can be handed in to the gunsmith for weapons and maybe your vanguard mentor for armor to upgrade your existing raid gear to the current tier of equipment. Likewise have all weapons and armor dropped in this high tiered raid already scaled up. According to destiny DB such upgrade materials already exist. I really hope Bungie has already planned on doing this in some way.

        • Agreed, love my hard-won VoG gear and weapons, and still have some *cough* mythoclast *cough* that I don't want to see rendered totally irrelevant before I eventually obtain them, assuming I do with the crappy rng system...

        • Lets do some critical thinking: VoG weapons (maxed) were the best ones you could get pre-DLC. They were ment to be found/used (maxed) in a level 30 raid, but at least in a 26 raid (unmaxed being just as useful here. So how many activities are currently in game that are higher then level 30? I count 1 that's not even in the game yet (though I guess it will be soon) In fact even the new ROC strikes are leveled at the lowest level you can run VoG on. So it seems to me that the old legendary weapons are just as useful now as they were before.

Bungie's timing is something else. They probably will update the raid gear and difficulty level, but it won't be until it doesn't matter anymore. When HoW is around the bend. It will be just like the Iron Banner gear. "Enjoy your level 30 gauntlets and boots because in two weeks it won't even matter! You'll be buying vendor gear!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Iron Banner is a whole other thing, though. When it first came around, we were treated to level 29 gauntlets...two months later it was level 30 gauntlets and boots and then it was 31 gauntlets and boots. I'm getting that we will never see chest pieces or helms? I'm anticipating that the next time it rolls around the event will offer level 32 gauntlets and boots. Not but a few weeks after that, House of Wolves will be out and we'll be ditching that gear for level 33 vendor gear lol, which will once again put raiders and Iron Banner grinders at the bottom of the list, again.

The problem is Bungie designed themselves into a corner of not being able to produce a linear progression. Vendor gear should not be better than VoG gear and VoG gear should not be on par with CE gear. If VoG gear match's CE gear then what's the point of doing CE? Imo, VoG gear should all be an in-between just like the Vex. Better than vendor(pre TDB vendor), gets you in, and effective in, CE. But not as good as CE gear. What they've done with the vendors made the VoG pointless outside of the Vex, upgrade mats, and the chance for other exotics(yet still 300). This is bungie designing the game around "on-demand" attention spans that, to me, says bungie expects a lack of new players to support keeping the grind linear. Bottom line, though it's a fun game, it's fundamentally a poor design of a game.
