PETITION: VoG weapons at 331. Raids shouldn't be rendered irrelevant.

1500+ up votes 3000+ replies [You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.] Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness. I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play. Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game. Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way. Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential. ===================== Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to: AJIc3CoLd said: "But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation". JoshLags said: "The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear". DE4THINC4RN4TE said: "Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

Make use of the god damn -blam!-ing shards and energy. Like oh wanna upgrade this vog weapon or armor? 25-30 energy/shards per item. That would be -blam!-ing great. Please up-vote it you agree.

    • All raid weapons should be buffed Add a new VoG at 32 (still keep the 26 and 30 one for the new players)

I know, I have been suggesting this since before Dark Below came out. It's ludicrous to limit you to only the new set of raid gear to stay at max level. What if you want to mix-match raid sets? What if you don't like that specific raid gear? Before they made VOG gear obsolete, my favorite combo was Iron Banner shoulders and boots, with my Facade of The Hezen Lord helmet and Praxic Fire. I was still 30. I still love my Facade, but it's worthless now. It's not even 31 quality item. The only reason they didn't do everything this post outlines, is because they want even Raiders to have to start grinding again, in order to be max level. This is fine if you're doing this a year down the road, but 2 months after release? Wow, many people I played with didn't even complete their raid sets in that amount of time. They either just got energy or the same raid items they already had. Bungie's train of thought must have been, "So what if you ran the previous raids, it doesn't matter...why should you get to mix-match raid gear and keep your level? In fact, why should you even be allowed to be level 31? Heck, we'll demoralize you and sell level 31 vendor gear so that new comers can surpass your ability to cooperate and beat hard mode raids!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Sure, we could have made the vendor gear level 30, to match parity with your awesomeness, but nope...to hell with you!"

        • Hell, this is important enough to me that I'll vote for this again. This needs to happen, Bungie. No Raid should ever be rendered obsolete and irrelevant. In fact, I made a post about this very subject a while back, and it works very nicely with the OP's wonderful and very logical reasons. Here's a link to The Plight of Legendary Equipment After TDB (A plea to Bungie). If you cruise through it, OP; I think you'll find several arguments that will help to augment your own cause. But again; this has my undying support. Listen to your Gamers, Bungie. Not that bullshit blow-off excuse you normally give us, but actually listen to us. Please.

          • Absolutely agree that there should be a means of upgrading "old" raid gear. Think of when Comet comes out, and all the people that will begin the game there, all the raids that each expansion put hundreds of man hours into (both creating and completing) will become obsolete and utterly unplayed in the current model. I saw the same disappointment playing other mmo's. New players will not be giving the opportunity to replay the content we are currently enjoying. Yes there are other aesthetic and functionality arguments, but the potential option to replay VoG for a real reason other than nostalgia would be incredible and something I would support fully. Destiny originally aimed to set itself apart; from first person shooters, from MMO's, and from console games as a whole. I think this is an area where Bungie has the opportunity to really do that with Destiny.

          • I like the variable damage rates (300 vs. 331) of all the legendary and exotic weapons. It makes every players character more unique. It's no fun when everyone has the same weapons and damage rates. I have many 300 max damage weapons that I use ahead of a 331 max damage weapon. There is more to a weapon than it's DAMAGE number. How about the elemental damage attached to a bevy of weapons? I have a Payback SOS at 331, but after maxing it out I went back to FB and VoC just for the sake of the Arc and Burn. The Culling at 300 is still awesome too.

          • I know this post is focusing on the raid weapons, and I wholeheartedly agree, but I'm going to focus on armour. It seems silly that to be the best you can be in the game, you must look like every other guardian. Surely it would be much cooler having the option to look any way you wish, and would be truer to the game experience bungie (I assume) wanted to deliver to us. Vanguard, Crucible, Faction and Raid gear should all be upgradable to the level cap. This would allow for diversity and creativity in how guardians look. To hit max level now you must have all crota's end armour bar one piece of you have an exotic. Personally I find this bland, I like some of the crota's end gear, but much of it I think looks vile. Why must we wear stuff we don't like just to compete? Anyway, that was just my two cents, doubt it will make much of a difference knowing what bungie have now become. I miss the classic halo days, when the community seemed to have a say.

          • I disagree. I want to feel like im making progress. Terraria does weapon progression so well. The FM items were definitely better than PM items, but PM items were still relevant. Model this

          • All they need to do is make a 32 (perhaps epic) vog that has updated drops. That way they have increased end game content as well.

          • I would like a system which doesn't render vog hard obsolete but requires you to do crota, so dismantling a piece of raid gear gives a shard ie chest fragment, of relevent tier level, that you can then take to a vendor and apply it to your lower raid piece of same slot and increase its effectiveness to the same tier,
