That's how it was with atheon. As a warlock main I was plagued with raid invites from squeakers, and some non squeakers too, asking me to come help them push atheon off. I simply responded no. I haven't been able to find a group to run Crota with because they always want to cheese and I don't want any part of it. I've seen it with atheon. I did my dues with Templar, but I refuse to drop Crota to his knee and ask him for marriage.
