Enjoying the game on PS4 but I disconnect every 20minutes - is anyone else having this problem?

I looked through the forum and didn't see one other person having network problems. Surely I am not the only one? I searched the Help page and there was a general "We are looking into network issues" post from a few months ago which was not very helpful. I am enjoying the game on my PS4, but almost like clockwork, about 20 minutes into whatever I am doing on Destiny, I get disconnected and then some random animal error message. It is driving me nuts and really cutting into my enjoyment. I am on Virgin Media in the UK (North London), the connection goes straight into a simple switch and then straight into the PS4. I have hardly ever had any network problems with any other game on my old PS3 or with this newer PS4, everything plays normally, I can download things without any problem and play online games without problems - except for Destiny. What is causing the disconnections every 20 minutes? The Network connection is direct, so there is nothing that should be causing any problems. No other games are affected. Surely this is a problem at Bungie's end? Any help appreciated. Cheers.

  • Hi illu2, Thank you for the post. It can be a bit tricky to determine the underlying cause to network connectivity errors. Destiny requires a strong and stable connection and getting this many disconnects would imply that something odd is going on. You mention that your network is set up with a simply switch between the modem and the console. Can I have you try removing the switch and plug directly into the modem? Here is a help article on that process: http://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12147

      • lol the problem has been going on for a while now, for me its been about 1 month since the big update where i started getting disconnected every 10 min due to some animal error. I never had any problems till after the big update. Bungie hasnt replied to my posts, but all the other posts similar to mine all had the same reply from bungie saying that they are "SORRY" to hear we have such problems and that they will try "FIXING" it as soon as possible. Bungie has 500 people working on Destiny and not one of them from the networking/server department has fixed this irritating problem. So far I've basically paid for a game that kicks me out every 10min and to be honest Battlefield 4 has better server stability than Destiny. BTW my internet is perfectly fine, everything is on Bungie's side, even though they would deny its their problem and suggest you try "opening" your NAT etc etc

        • I'm getting similar now in that every time my game connects me to others, I get an error. I've been trying to play pvp, it will find players but immediately send me back to orbit or the title screen. I am even having trouble getting into the tower

It's a miracle! Last night I had a disconnect free session while playing for over 7 hours! The game is so much more enjoyable when you actually have time to complete missions and the like. What did I do and what was my setup? (See what problems I was having in the reply to BNGHelp0 below). Firstly - I put the connection back how it was - so Wired connection from the Virgin Superhub to my NETGEAR FS108 Switch and from there into the PS4. So basically a Wired connection. I REBOOTED the SuperHub by switching it off from the plug for 2 minutes. I then read somewhere that someone had had problems because there were some installations outstanding on their PS4. So I went into my PS4 and realised I had a few installations and updates outstanding. I installed all the games that needed installing. I installed all the update files that needed doing. I went into the LIBRARY section of the PS4 and went through EACH GAME and noticed that some still had a few additional downloads that had not finished or been activated/installed. So the PS4 now had everything installed and updated. I powered that down too and then started it up again. I then started playing at 6pm UK time and amazingly played all the way through to 1am without any problems what-so-ever (apart from some wife aggro :)). I was very close to logging a call with Virgin Media for them to look at my connection, but it looks like the combination of the SuperHub powerdown and restart and making sure all the installations on the PS4 were done have done the trick for the moment. Fingers crossed that this is solved in the long term now and I can carry on enjoying the game. Cheers. PS I did not change any settings on the SuperHub router. It remained in it's normal condition, doing Wired and Wireless connections. And copying and pasting from below, here are my router settings that I have never changed My NAT setting is 2 Downstream settings of 6.9 to 8.9 dBmV and 41.9 to 43.2 dB Upstream Channels 44 to 44.3 dBmV.

          • Do you get these errors on story missions a lot? Each time I enter a new area of the map I get "contacting destiny servers" then usually baboon error. Also on Virgin broadband
