Isn't that what titans are for? I mean with defender you can give people more damage, an extra shield, and safe refuge during combat so you can naturally regenerate. I do agree other classes should provide the same benefits but as it stands I feel the titan fits the bill quite nicely. Don't forget with gift of the void for defender you can generate orbs while in force barrier. I once generated 63 orbs of light during a strike.
