Posted this in another thread, may as well put it here in support. "Rather than the slow and steady vertical progression we are seeing, I would much prefer Horizontal expansion. All Legendary items should be the same quality (light, strength, discipline, intellect, defense, attack), including raid gear. Raid gear should be specialized gear, with new and interesting effects that can only be earned in their respective raids. Wearing a full set of legendary items and one piece of exotic armour (assuming they are all fully upgraded) should put you at the level cap, regardless of where we got these items. This would allow us to keep our weapons and armour that we worked hard to get, and got attached to, while allowing us to keep using all the awesome skins associated with the old legendary items. In it's current state Destiny forces players to discard our tried and true items, in exchange for the newest raid gear, not because the new armour / weapons have interesting effects and cool armour (which some do), but because we have to acquire these new items simply to remain relevant to the evolving end game. I love this game, and I love the guardian I have worked hard to make, but this seemingly useless gear treadmill removes most choice in what weapons / armour we want to use (causing us all to look like clones), while punishing hardcore players by making their achievements less relevant and punishing casual players by making them have to commit time (which many of us simply do not have) to constantly grind for the newest armour and weapons simply so we can experience new content with our friends. In conclusion: Instead of making new gear better, make it different, don't make us do raids and grind new armour to stay relevant. Make us WANT to earn these new items and weapons because they are interesting and different, not because they are better. Horizontal diversity, not vertical disparity."
