• If this were a simple-to-code, lackluster shooter like Call of Money: Recycled Warfare; then you'd be correct and most people wouldn't bitch. But this game was marketed and promised to us as so much more. I'd be willing to take the risk and guess that 70%+ of Gamers who bought this game, bought it because it was shown, marketed, and promised as something like the love-child of Skyrim and Halo. What we got was the demon-spawn of an Angry Birds-CoD mating. And just about as shallow as well.

  • To be honest my best friend was the one who was hyped for the game and I only got it cuz it was with a sexy white ps4, plus co-op means a good first game for my next gen system. That being said, I think the game is more halo meets diablo then anything, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's as linear as diablo is, it's about as big as diablo is, and it captures the fun gameplay of it as well. I think what the game is lacking outside of what I mentioned, is truly just definition. I think it keeps teasing us with what the game may or may not be, so we don't really know what we want. We never cared about customizing our halo characters outside of PvP gear, but we love grinding in diablo for a pretty leg piece, but we kind of like stumbling upon stuff in skyrim, but we like earning our marks in dcuo(i don't play WoW, nor will I ever lol so dc is my main reference). The game does a bit of all and doesn't excel in it the way we want it to. I think a diablo esque progression, with maybe pockets of more open areas and dozens of new designs in enemies and gear will make the game honestly what people expected. I've never really been so into saying what I want in a game besides dcuo but ever since I saw that the people working on dc legit do try and being in what we're asking for(power based movement?! Gawdd) I realize that maybe other companies kinda care to.hopefully Bungie is on this side of the fence

You can customize your character more if you play crucible as the majority of your time or at least as a large portion of it. If you're mostly or all PvE, you'll be limited to Vanguard armor since you can no longer trade in materials for crucible marks with which to buy faction gear. So you're going to wear one of two sets of armor. Or Raid gear if you have it. This is customization, yes, but only in the strictest sense of "having more than one option." But not what many are looking for, that is, multiple options independent of any one game mode. Even making the faction gear, but not the Lord Shaxx Crucible gear, available for purchase with vanguard marks would greatly increase player options. It would effectively double the number of aesthetic option at the legendary tier for PvE players. Assuming factions give Crucible commendations on level up. I haven't leveled up enough since the expansion to find out first hand. Or just let DO, FWC and NM accept Vanguard or Crucible currency. You can get a combined 200 marks per week. So you could buy at most two pieces per week. Is that too quick of a progression for you, Bungie? And on an unrelated note. I'm watching my Xbox re-download the same updates yet again. Fix your shit.

If you had been following this game before the release there was a lot of talk about things Destiny would be (that came from the developers). Fully customization armor, guns, trading, a more robust multiplayer, etc. Sure, some of the expectations were built by the player community anticipating the release but also by Bungie employees themselves telling us what they were creating. Your ignorance of these expectations does not mean that they did not exist.

  • If your light level did not matter, then I would agree, but customizing your armor while keeping your light level is a totally different story. Before the DLC you could only get to 30 by having 4 raid pieces or 1 exotic + 3 raid pieces. To get to level 32 in the TDB you must have the same set up but with the new raid gear. Does that sound 'Fully Customizable' to you ? And yes, it does matter if you want to play the end game content and do well (Iron Banner, Raid on Hard, upcoming Trials of Osiris). So yeah, if you don't care about your light level you are technically correct, but since most people care about their level you are wrong.

  • Also, may I ask what your gaming background is ? I think part of the issue is that you might be coming from primarily an FPS background. The issue that Destiny is facing with many players is the meld between different genres, which is admittedly difficult to do and props for Destiny trying to accomplish such a task. Many of us have had experience with RPGs/MMOs and thus we are bringing those expectations to the table when we play Destiny. Now, that may not seem fair to you, but when you say that your game has RPG and MMO elements (paraphrasing), we expect non-trivial RPG and MMO elements, especially since many of these elements have already been done very well. Bungie simply needs to incorporate them into their game rather than re inventing the wheel.

Oh no, I realize that, all I am saying is that they made it sound more robust than it was. When a large portion of your community has played Skyrim, WoW, and Borderlands (games which are currently defining the industry standard on the elements Destiny is using), we just have expectations (very realistic expectations) that customizable does not mean switching out a helmet for a chest piece. I would not say they lied about this, I would say that they were misleading.

  • You can widely customize it. People are just making destiny their own game with their own objectives

I think people just want Destiny to be a good game, and certain facets of it are rather underwhelming. However I see that the feedback and criticism are varied and splintered.

  • But none of that has come anywhere close to the level of what was promised and shown in the marketing videos and ViDocs. Also, there was plenty more shown in all of those "this will be in the game" and the now infamous "if you see it, we want you to go there. That's all real geometry" videos. they promised many more weapons and armors than we have, far more expansive areas to explore, at least four more planets than we received, more variety of enemies, more variety of quests and public events, etc. This game is a far cry from what we were told we were getting, and what Destiny can possibly be. That's where my issue is.
