So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

If they ban people for this that means one thing. Bungie is lazy and couldn't fix their own damn game. P.s you don't have to pull your cord out. YOU CAN JUST QUIT THE GAME. Unless they are banning anyone who quits a game I don't see that happening. Why? Because the game destiny is broken and give to many error codes that does what to players? Kicks them off destiny...exactly. Why doesn't bungie ban themselves for creating such a terrible raid. With out cheese this raid takes less time and is easier than VOG. What kind of sense does that make? Now stop being a hall monitor and worry about yourself.

Its an easy fix just kill the whole team whenever someone joins a party

Edited by Lucius Aelius: 12/29/2014 6:47:48 PMRight now it's too commonly accepted by the community to just cheat their way through every challenge, and that's not right, so based on that I'm in favor of people being banned for cheating (depending on the seriousness/frequency of offenses). Allowing people to cheat with impunity is certainly the wrong way to go, it sets a bad example and, perhaps worse, actually makes these poor deluded people think that they aren't even cheating (because Bungie allows it to go unpunished). That being said there needs to be proper communication because people need to have it explained to them that they've been cheating and it's not okay, if you just go straight to banning people after setting the precedent that cheating will not be punished then there would be a lot of collateral damage from people who didn't want to cheat but went along with it because it's what everyone else is doing. Also lots of people who cheat now wouldn't if they knew they might get banned for it, so even the threat of the ban hammer will help keep people in line. Part of the problem now is that there is no such threat unless you're modding consoles or something, and there's all sorts of cheating that's less extreme than that which deserves to be punished. And not to forget that temp bans can help fill the gap in punishments for offenses that don't warrant a permanent ban.

Six guardians decent deep in to the moon to defeat the king of the Hive "Crota's" with Eris knowledge of the hive in general. The fight is long and tiresome but they tried with all efforts to take him down but to little to no effort Crota's is to strong and move around too much. But one guardian discover that by exploiting his connection to the tower and routing it to the hive main frame computer while Crota's is weak and kneeling, allows him to maintain Crota's unconscious when kneeling down. Therefore the Guardians take advantage and finally End Crota for ever.....................There you go Guardians are smartest than the Hive and also Vex. Next is the Fallen, Kabals and the mysteries of the Reef which should be the end of Destiny one then with a cliffhanger Follow by Destiny 2.

No, no one should be banned but they should not even release the hard raid till all the cheese is gone because I don't want the Mythoclast incident to happen all over again.
-
It's not bannable. I understand holding up the integrity of the raid for players who have legitimately finished it, but people will always find these methods. It will never go away. People will always find the easiest way to do something and in a way that's thinking ahead even though it's a cheese. All we can do is hope for a speedy update.
-
New reason to care. It's rumored, and I say rumored because I haven't found anything official stating it. That the reason Hard Mode was held back was so the bug/glitches/cheats could be discovered and fixed. I hate the fact that they are throttling content, as does many others. Everyone that practices these exploits, cheeses, or cheats is giving them an excuse to hide behind. I do blame Bungie for not properly player testing, but your giving fuel to their fire by continuing to use this network glitch.
-
I can confidently say they won't ban anyone. They didn't ban anyone for pushing atheon or the Templar off so they won't do it now
-
They should just fix the cheese, that's it lol
-
No one is going to get banned for cheesing Crota. Bungie will hopefully have all issues fixed before they release the hard mode.
-
He's not hard to beat at all. I don't see the point in cheesing him when he's so simple kill. People who try to cheese everything usually can't beat those areas/bosses without the glitches. It's funny to see how clueless they are when they have to do something the legitimate way.
-
Edited by Squizzlor: 12/30/2014 6:18:25 PMIs this "destiny" In any way related to that "very special place in hell reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theaters"?
-
Yeah they should be banned but they will never be. Bungie cant code for shit, i dont believe they have a way to monitor who is doing what at such extent. Ergo, DLC was ruined from the begin and now is too late.
-
By the way if they were to ban people it has to be the cord puller only cause the rest of the fireteam could claim ignorance. But they wont ban... they would have half the community wiped
-
Will not happen that will eliminate half the people who finished it. That's a lot of lost players. Needs to be fixed it's hard to find a group not doing it.
-
Bungie would have to ban thousands of players which just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. Plus they already lost their window by not banning anyone for cheesing atheon. They can not expect the average gamer to see the difference between Crota kneel and Atheon push off. Banning is simply not a viable option because of all the events that led up to this point and it would be hypocritical for them to go that route. Plus keep in mind that many of us are curious and have beaten him legit a bunch and wanted to see how the cheese worked or were in a group that chose to cheese. Should everyone in that group be banned? Well yes if one gets banned they all should but that would make 10's of thousand of players banned if not more, many of which would not come back to the game because of the betrayal by bungie.
-
In my opinion, I don't really care how people use something after they purchase a product, it is up to purchaser how it can be used not the company. So if there's an impropriety with their program that can be capitalized on, then how is it that a user should be punished for it...sounds to me like the ball is in bungies court on this one. Patch or leave it be, it seems that's all they could really do, but that is what it seems. IMO.
-
You might as well go ahead and practice killing him legit. Its not hard to do and when hard mode comes out nobody will know how to do it.
-
If its patch able, then no. But if it can't be stopped then yes.
-
Cheeseing anything is brought on by some type of flaw. In the Vault of glass cheese atheon was due to there being so many bugs in that section of the raid, nobody wanted to waste time dealing with it. But what's the problem with CE?

*spying*
-
Beating without the DC is faster and easier... I don't understand why people do it, I take him down on a second or third (sometimes) first try almost every time with a pick up group from the forums, often with several level 30s. Of course I don't want to see my fellow gamers banned so play your way but it really is not so bad if you all take on some strategy (like gatekeepers in the VoG where people work together). Anyway the things he drops now aren't that great, black hammer an exception, I'm focused on beating him so that when hard raid comes out I have the strategy down, and in surprised so few others are focused on honing their skills.

Edited by DJ Derock: 12/30/2014 1:38:18 PMMaybe Bungie should start hiring gamers in the Destiny community to alpha/beta test new builds of the game. That way, the folks in the test group can potentially find ways to exploit or 'chesse' encounters before the content is ever released to the general public. They could pay them $200 or so to run through a build several times and get feedback and fix what they need to. Alternatively, they could just keep rolling out updates saying, 'the community has outsmarted us once again, so we are going to find a way to fix this encounter that we ourselves weren't smart/lucky enough to find a way around.'
-
I want to do it legit but no one want...
-
I like how some say other people's playing doesn't affect them. How could it not when you have to play with others? And when people doing legit things get left behind and those cheesing start saying lvl 32 only . yeah it kind of does affect other people when you do anything. Not saying every 32 is a cheeser ,but it sucks when all anyone wants to do is get the gear. For what? To glitch the game some more ? The blam u need gear for then fool. Frustrating . Eff talk of banning tho. shouldve been more thoroughly tested if you didn't want it to happen and sometimes its no use fighting the crowd.
