So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

A network glitch is like laggn out people inbthe old starceafts days on 56k modem. They were all eventually banned and punished. I dont see why we couldn't do the same. Instead you are gonna have a bunch of scrubs trying yo justify why its ok to cheese a boos they cant legitimately beat.
-
Why do you care so much about what others do? You must lead a very uneventful life if you need to be concerned about what others do for their fun and enjoyment of this game.
-
With DLC. Comet and the DLC expansion 2 coming they wont ban 60+% of people when they want money. And if they do w/e we will go to a better game. HAPPY CHEESING #SUCKIT
-
Enjoy a pretty useless and incorrect thread when the hardmode comes out and not a single ban goes out aswell.
-
If they banned everyone that glitched, more than half their players would be gone
-
I cheesed crota and i really hope they do ban. I hate this community of whiners and I'm tired of grinding in this game. Ban me and my friends and I'm free from this game. Lol
-
Maybe they could instead focus on making a better game.
-
If Bungie had been from day one punishing exploiting with temp bans / perma bans, then yes they should take action here. But Bungie did not hand out any temp or perma bans for all the cheese that went on in VoG, guessing because in the grand scheme of things it means pretty much zip. Bungie have learned one lesson though, the delay on Hard Crota raid release was clearly done so they could see just exactly what would need fixing, so their would be some achievement in defeating the hard raid. Easiest fix for Crota ? add one mob that spawns after crota has been kneeling longer than the time limit, that is immune to all damage types and will wtfpwn the person trying to melee hit crota, by spamming huge aoe one hit shots targeted on crota.

Edited by Beatz: 1/7/2015 6:10:20 PMOnly reason why most answers are no is because majority did it. But people should not be banned for this anyways, it was discovered by the host "lagging out". If bungie were to ban people they would be banning people who quit there game which would be the stupidest thing ever.
-
I think if they were going to ban, they would only ban for a day or so. Most gamers are what they are, GAMERS. We have multiple titles and consoles to play. If they were to perma-ban, people would just move on to something else. Therefore we would treat it like an ex girlfriend. The best way to get over one is to get under a new one.
-
Kneelists lol. I can't hahaha. They arent banning anyone.
-
No. They don't. All those people complaining about the cheese cheesed atheon when u could push them off the edge. So grow up hypocrites and stop your whining
-
Can kill a boss=glitch Oracle=glitch Templar=glitch Raid=glitch Guys if u wnt a easy game go play sonic or pac-man.
-
No to Many people did it
-
Edited by dinamo: 1/7/2015 6:00:32 PMif everyone who cheesed got a ban and reset, this game wont last
-
Because you know, they TOTALLYYYY banned people for cheesing Atheon........oh wait
-
I have no idea since I have never done crota' end
-
Edited by DoomSlayer51: 1/7/2015 5:50:14 PMStill have not done the raid To hard to find a group to do it legit
-
I would almost hope to be banned since it is the perfect excuse for me to not play this game anymore.
-
So let me get this right. You think people will be banned for unchecking a check box/pulling out a cable in which they own from/on a hardware device in which they own to defeat a boss in a Video Game? Lets just ignore the legal implications that Sony/Bungie would have on their hands if that were the case for a moment. But do you know how stupid this sounds, your probably right though Bungie is going to ban 75% of their hardcore players for using a glitch within their game. (which support the game currently and most likely into the future, but for the sake of this, again we will ignore the economic implications from this argument as well). So not only does this make no legal sense/business sense/ or even logical sense.....it really isn't practical nor has it ever been done.
-
If I got banned for joining a group that insist on cheesing that's not fair either way I can care less How we kill him, almost every player in the game has cheesed good luck with destinys future.
-
Kneelists sound like Neelix, I think that says enough
-
Still don't see why ppl care how others play. It's not like this game has modded lobbies and shit
-
Edited by Tight_Fade9: 1/7/2015 4:09:29 PMIf they want to lose a vast amount of players, then go for it. And before people try and say oh I always do it legit and hardly anyone cheeses, well bullsh!t.Just about everyone on my friends list and I'd have to say 30+ randoms I have done the 2 raids with have taken advantage of the various cheese. Thats alot of people already. You multiply that by all the people playing and I would wager the amount of people that have cheesed are in the millions.
-
It's not that big of a deal get over it ..
-
you no work for Bungie.....
