So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

You are -blam!-ing pathetic. It's their fault that they weren't prepared for anything!!! They released Crota. And you can cheese the entire thing practically! And with atheon. Boom knocked off. Templar, boom knocked off. They should be ashamed of not being prepared. Telling the people that they should be banned for BUNGIES mistakes. Yeah right, you're just another 10 year old complaining on the forum. Alright I'm done ranting :-)

Edited by YourFate___: 1/7/2015 9:49:09 PMNot saying I've " cheesed "it, but I mean... I can see why people take advantage of this exploit. Take into consideration, RNG. How many 1-3 hour raids can you do per character, per week and get the same thing ? As many as RNG says. I mean, after doing it so long, " cheesing " or what I think of it as, exploiting, has crossed my mind several times.
-
No, this game is a grind fest, and most people want to just finish the raid as fast as possible.
-
I've done the raid legit and honestly I don't see a problem with cheesing it while you can. It's quicker and honestly it's less of a chore that way. The raid isn't very fun to do to begin with and with the RNG loot system being so unrewarding why should we have to try hard to beat something that most likely will only give us shards?

Edited by incendy: 1/7/2015 9:17:31 PMIt is clearly a Violation of the Code of Conduct, however, it isn't in the instant ban section but instead it is in the repeat offenders section. Will they ban people that tried it a few times, probably not. Will they ban people that are repeat offenders, technically they could and maybe should.
-
I'll admit that I do this, and I'm waiting to get full-broadsided by the bancannons. But I do it to help out my fellow guardians who don't have the time and/or skill to do it another way.
-
See the real question isn't if they deserve to nor is it whether anyone actually cares. the question is will bunige ban anyone? And the answer is no. too many people cheese the raid and if bungie were to ban people I'd say a good third of the community, maybe a fourth, would be banned and they wouldn't do that. No matter how many bitch and moan they won't start banning people.
-
So when they patch it what you going to moan about then, that we use guns.
-
they can't stop a cpl guys in a basement shutting down their whole service on Xmas. How are they gonna figure out who is doing the glitch and who isnt?
-
They would be banning like 90% of their players, some of which would never come back... Lol, it's not gonna happen, and the people who cheese crota, are the ones who bought the dlc, and will most likely but HoW, the ones giving bungie money. Bungie would have to be brain dead to do that.
-
LOL!!! AGAIN BUNGIE CANNOT DO THIS^! This is activision and bungie has not 1 word or figure they can lift....
-
This is y u dont rush a game out to make the release date. the product wasnt finished or properly tested. if it was we wouldnt have most of these problems to begin with. I know every game has problem but the amount of shit they missed is overwhelming.
-
No, just means they will have a harder time when they fix it.

Edited by iAmGod: 12/25/2014 3:38:57 PMDoes ATHEON cheesers deserve to be bannened? Do LOOT cave-ers deserve to be banned? Do TEMPLAR cheesers deserve to be banned? Does warlock/hunter cheesers of the bridge deserved to be banned? Does anyone who join in on a CHECKPOINT they did NOT EARN for oracles, templar, gorgon, atheon, crota, and the bridge deserve to be banned? Does anyone who got into locked disk content on their disk that they have PURCHASED deserve to be banned? Do people who got 31 gear and never got the gear from iron banner and the raid deserve to be banned? Do the gamers who hide under the platform on WINTERS RUN or any other place on any mission just killing deserve to be banned? Does anyone who have multiple accounts of the same character to get gear deserve to be banned? Does anyone who have a high level ranked friend who helps them play through the game from level 1on up deserve to be banned? Hey I just had a thought, maybe this adds up to everyone in the damn game....SO THE ANSWER IS HELL NO HOW ABOUT THEY FIX THE GLITCHES!!! HOW ABOUT THEY NOT ONLY FIX THE GLITCHES THEY DONT WANT BUT ALSO THOSE WE DONT WANT LIKE: enemies regaining health you still dying from the deathsingers song even after you have killed her still getting wiped from the overgaze after you destroyed it getting wiped by oracles after you destroyed them all crota running from the left side all the way to the right side crota falling off his stage whooping ass at the bottom crota coming into the crystal room whooping ass THE LIST IS LONG!!!
-
I payed full price for this game plus the online pass. Not my fault the game is broken.
-
I want them to be banned, but then a VERY large part of the community wouldn't be able to play...
-
I don't understand why people care?? Are you people so righteous that it actually really bothers you that bad??
-
Well if this game got QA'd properly then everything would be fine. Because it seriously seems like they released the game without it being tested atall There are so many glitches/bugs in this game in general it's unreal >_<
-
I don't think bans are necessary, if so a good chunk of the people who have beat it would be gone. I for one only get to raid with players I meet on the forums, most of my friends quit playing so if I'm in a fire team that wants to cheese I'm not going to beg them not to because I'll get kicked most likely and then I'll have to come back to the forums find a new group and odds are they are cheesing to. Just let bungie fix it like they did the loot cave/atheon/Templar
-
Not my fault Bungie can't test their raid. They must suck at games if they thought it would be hard for 6 people.
-
Edited by SpinThaVinyl: 1/7/2015 7:55:46 PMIts not really a glitch on x1. You just press quit.
-
You don't need to disconnect at all, in any stage of the raid.
-
That had to do with in game currency. Also to many people have done it and bungie will not ban that many people on a dying game. I agree it's a network glitch but I really feel it's to hard to track and bungie will patch and move on. Thank for taking all that time on ur opinion though
-
No one is getting banned. End of story.
-
Can you provide proof that people have already been banned? It'd be interesting to read a bungie post stating that and see how they were able to determine intentional over accidental disconnect.
-
A network glitch is like laggn out people inbthe old starceafts days on 56k modem. They were all eventually banned and punished. I dont see why we couldn't do the same. Instead you are gonna have a bunch of scrubs trying yo justify why its ok to cheese a boos they cant legitimately beat.
